Some hightlights from last year's "Fire Starter Fesival Kickoff Party" @underworlddistillery It was a magical night where the poetry ane music alternated and created such a juicy vibe. This year's kickoff party is @shimstavern and promises even more surprising delights including, but far from limited to, a live visual art battle, a band of poets who formed a music group just for the event, a fashion show, mini sets from Co-hosts @kat.heart.reno and @kasey.christensen.music , and Frictionless Benediction from @sidewayseightprojects AND so much more. Get there early if you wanna sign up and/or get a good spot to view the creative mayhem from. Show is 7 to 10 at Shims. $10 suggested donation. Hope to see you there!

Join @ericmorago at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City on Tuesday, May 12th at 6pm as he hosts the 2nd Tuesday of the month Open Mic Poetry night! All ages! Poets will have up to 6 minutes to read their own poetry or the work of someone else (as long as they give credit to the author). This will be the second poetry open mic at the Brewery Arts Center in conjunction with Spoken Views Collective, so please come on out and help us grow this into an amazing space for words!

Join City of Reno Poet Laureate Elisa Garcia, @seemedisco , and an Interpretive Park Ranger, City of Reno - Parks and Recreation, for an evening in Idlewild Park.
Explore the park’s trails while spotting local and migratory birds. Let the sounds and sights of nature inspire shared and personal poetry. Perfect for bird nerds, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a peaceful, creative outdoor experience.
The poetry walk will begin promptly at 6pm at the Sensory Garden at Idlewild Park along Cowan Drive. This is a free event. Pre-registration is not required.
Please bring a journal, writing utensil, water, a hat, close-toed shoes, and weather-conscious clothes.
