What’s The Big Sing? It’s the Maritime’s greatest group singing lesson! Just picture a Nova Scotia kitchen party, with 250 friends, at a bar, learning one of the best pop tunes of our time, in three-part harmony. We’re not joking. It’s awesome.
All winter long, catch us the second Tuesday of the month at The Basement of the Shoe on Argyle Street. Our pro tip? Drop by early for a drink and a bite from our friends upstairs at The Economy Shoe Shop. Caitlin recommends the nachos *chef’s kiss*
No musical skills required. You show up, lyrics in one hand and a drink in the other, and we do the rest. We’ll start by learning the melody, and we’ll work towards a final video performance by the end of the night. It’ll get hot, singing is a full body sport! Co-led by Rachael Delano, Caitlin Bowers, and Jack Bennet. Stevie Nicks won’t be there with us but we heard she’s in Toronto..... anyone have a connection?!
The Big Sing is privileged to make music in Mi’ma’ki, the unceded and ancestral land of the Mi’kmaq. The Basement is only accessible by staircase.

✨ What a night!
Huge thanks to Graeme, Diana, and Rebekah Higgs for hosting their very first house concert last weekend - and absolutely knocking it out of the park! It was a sold-out show filled with lovely people, great food, and magical vibes.
We even had a surprise collaboration with the newly formed supergroup Dr. H & Baby G (aka Holly Roddam, Graeme, Diana, and Rebekah Higgs) - what a treat! ❤️
Tickets were sold through SideDoor . I loved being able to email attendees ahead of time and keep track of everything myself. @sidedoor.access works to bridge the gap between artists, hosts and audiences… and it’s divine!
Since my start in Texas back in 2000, House concerts like this have helped me grow my fanbase across Canada and overseas, and they remain one of my favourite ways to share music, stories, food, laughter and tears. It’s so easy - all you need is a space, some friends, and a love for live music and connection.
If you’ve ever thought about hosting one, please talk to me! 💫
