Making this piece was so fun, layering the fruit, pearls, and shells like building a tiny altar. Lush, romantic and over promising. Made this one in less than an hour and then we destroyed it and moved on to the next one. A love bomb in still life form. Built to overwhelm and to make up for what’s missing. ❤️‍🔥

The night before making this, I froze this portrait in a box of water and used weights to make it float in the middle. I stuffed the box of ice into my small little New York freezer and just hoped for the best that you would be able to see his face through the ice.
