We will not fall into despair. The antidote to helplessness and hopelessness is generosity and courage, to keep leaning in. These are 5 ways we’re creating beauty and community - our joyful resistance:
- Creating a beautiful, hope-filled window display at our very own @sidebloomshop for the thousands and thousands of cars that drive the main road here in our city - beauty matters.
- Adding vinyl stickers to every order to remind our community that we can keep doing what we can where we’re planted. (stay tuned!)
- Organizing a sale where 100% of proceeds will go to supporting immigrant and community networks on the ground.
- Supporting other local small businesses through Second Saturdays at the shop to continue gathering us in person.
- Staying engaged with the local public schools around us to offer support any way we can.

We moved from the city to the suburbs 7 years ago after my first was born, but I was still the same person on the inside even though my circumstances had changed. So I decided to make the space I was missing here - a place for beauty, creativity, and community, moving all of our operations and creating the shop I knew this city needed. You can find our collections here at Sidebloom, but also the amazing work of other independent businesses (99% women owned!), and monthly pop-up gatherings where neighbors come together to support local makers. Whatever your day job looks like, we’re all able to create moments of delight from wherever we are, however small or wide the ripples extend. What better purpose than to make the world a bit brighter 💛
