My home state, Louisiana, has a colorful culture, talented artists and a tumultuous history. There is something about creating and premiering an unconventional dance work here that both excites and terrifies me. Like many, there’s an unavoidable balance between what I’ve grown up knowing and what I seek to change. How do we respect the past while sculpting a new future? Our world is full of these paradoxes, and I’m here to tackle a small stone’s worth.
