Greetings! Sickpay is proud to present the new album Freaks in the Night. 8 tracks of pure Outlaw Freestyle. Echos from the tunnels of 80s forgotten memory rushes forth and takes the listener to a forgotten land of misfit desires. The underworld is in disarray and romance has been shattered! Take control of the sound system under stuttering streetlights, as neon tears fall on the wet asphalt. Born from an attempt to tap into a world long buried, but still very much alive, these tracks blend drum machines with midnight dreams. Freaks in the Night is made for driving out of the city’s shadows, chasing distant lights, searching for something better just beyond the darkness. Break out! Thank you to everyone who helped bring this album to life and make it something truly special @valleywanderlustco @dustymoonbeam @tibbie_x @dannymarathon @eyedao and @loudnesswarveteran for mastering. This is Sickpay’s declaration of love to the craft of 80s freestyle, electro, and pop which has long been a through line and backdrop to experiences in clubs, in cars, graffiti missions, and general fabric of tristate mysticism. Some might view it as disposable pop, some might view it as a propelling force in which there is freedom and life in the immediacy of catchy hooks and gated drums. Extra special thanks to the extra talented and dedicated @eyedao without whom this album art would not have been possible at such a monumental scale. Did you know this is a giant 6x6 canvas done expertly with airbrush and spray paint?  More on that soon and more about each of these tracks comin up! and with that - the living album art for FITN is complete. @eyedao and I went back and forth on whether or not it should be done. He convinced me it was only right. I boxed out some letters. He threw me the 🛟 and masterfully outlined and niced em up. I simply do not have the micro strokes and finesse required to not fully ruin this procedure. Once again and forever massive praise to my dude. He has consistently been a patient and positive force for me and it’s very inspiring to see what he’s been doing with the zone at the Bushwick flea market and his life zone in general. Bet you weren’t aware this new album art is a 5x5 canvas done with air brush and water based spray paint. I can hardly believe it myself. Ever tried handling an airbrush? It takes the hand of a true master to make something this quality at this scale. I couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out and my respect for his craft, his enthusiasm about this project, and of course his tutoring me on how to properly use a spray can must be honored! Hello. I am here to deliver a peace, ponderings and announcement post. Music? Why? It’s been the focal point of my life no question. I might even go as far to say it is life itself. Again. Why? Am I just a wayward spirit who is easily drawn to lights and sounds? Is it just a petty escape and distraction from the severity and responsibility of everyday life that shrieks in our faces mercilessly? Does a snare sound pay for groceries? Does a bassline provide you health insurance? Surely I’ve come as close as one can to tricking themselves into thinking so. Tapping into the realm of the unknown and reaching into the depths of one’s sanity to produce something of meaning can have its appeal though. Cause really all I can conclude about anything is something is always better than nothing. I have been struggling friends - to find a point. But sometimes, in the words of @callahanandwitscher , it just won’t let me go. I’m trying to paint a picture. Attempt to bring the night into the light. Id like to hault the gears of trying every day to back pedal on my indulgent pursuit of creating my own chunk of property on a questionably existent piece of land called music, and ask you to Indulge with me. If even for a moment. A moment to cheers to those ghosts that dance on the outside of your peripheral while you are entering someone else’s inventory into a data center grid for a measley living. New Sickpay is coming and it’s coming quick. 8 tracks of “Outlaw Freestyle” lovingly crafted over the past 2 years or so. And all I can say with certainty - is it’s better than nothing. =.>.
