Before yesterday’s match, we took a moment to honor Mark Pavlik, head coach of @pennstatemvball , for his outstanding 32-year career with the Nittany Lions and the impact he’s had on collegiate volleyball as he enters his final season before retiring. 🧡🏐
A statement from Head Coach Sam Shweisky:
“Coach Pav has been a tremendous mentor and supporter of mine since I attended the Penn State camp as a junior in 1996. When I played at Penn State in 1999 with Vassar, he was again incredibly supportive. Then in 2009, when I was hired at Princeton, Coach Pav took me to lunch. I mentioned I was working on creating a handbook for Princeton Men’s Volleyball, and Pav handed me the Penn State 2007–2008 men’s volleyball handbook and told me I could keep it. He said with a smile, ‘The better Princeton gets, the better the EIVA gets — and the better we get.’ I couldn’t believe it. Here he was sharing every detail about how to run a top-level Division I program. That’s who Pav is — someone who genuinely wants the best for every team in the EIVA and across the country. Thank you, Pav, for all you’ve given to the sport of men’s volleyball, and for the way you’ve done it — with such class and integrity. You’ve set an incredibly high bar for all of us to follow, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you!”
Six years ago today my dad, Jacob Shweisky, passed away. He was my best friend.
I’m so thankful for everything he taught me, and for the best parts of him that live on in me.
Sometimes when I laugh, groan, crack a joke, or simply try to treat people with love and kindness, I can feel him shining through me.
I am so lucky to have been Jacob Shweisky’s son — it’s been my greatest honor.
I love you, Dad. I miss you. I think about you every day. ❤️❤️❤️

An incredible trip down memory lane back at Vassar to honor the retirement of my college coach - @thejapers - So appreciative and grateful for what Vassar College, Vassar Volleyball, and Jonathan Penn did for me as a young person looking to find my way in the world. Thank you for pushing me to find the best version of myself. I am eternally grateful. ❤️❤️❤️
5 years ago today my dad passed away. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about what a full life he lived and how he was always up for anything.
Jake is pictured here at my cousin Adam’s graduation in 2003. When he heard that parents were invited to go out drinking with the graduates he exuberantly volunteered to join the group! He was always up for anything.
