Dear Rudy, you are the reason I fell in love with felines. From the first moment I laid eyes on you in early 2011 at the Long Beach ASPCA I knew you were the cat for me. Your big personality and friendly disposition made countless people adore you and converted several people into cat lovers.
Sometimes we thought you might be a dog because of how much you loved getting belly rubs. When our second cat, Pippa entered our lives you hated her at first, but after a few days you took her under your paw, showering her with love, putting her in check when necessary, and protecting her at all costs. In fact, you nearly blinded a small dog because it cornered Pippa and barked at her. When we lived in SF, I was able to teach you to “stay” and “come,” which is how you landed that short lived modeling gig with Meow Mix (see photo in carousel).
When our dog, Beatrice came to live with us, you immediately let her know you were the king of the castle, which she never dared challenge you on. When Julian and Roman were born, you treated both of them like they were your own, never once scratching or biting them even when they pulled your tail and ears.
So it is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to you, Rudy. You meant the world to our family and we will never forget you. Finding you felt like winning the lottery because I always knew that we would never meet another cat like you. And although we knew you by many names (Rudeboy, The Rudeboy Selector, Fatty Boomba, Trobis, and Great White Shark), I will always remember you as my sweet baby boy.
