“It’s spring, you’re young, you’re lovely, you have a right to be happy. Come back into the world.”
Shirley Jackson, we have always lived in the castle
30.
There was a time I never thought I’d make it past 16.
And when 16 came, I was sure I wouldn’t see 25.
But here I am. 30 years old, standing in the fullness of a life that has held so much.
Trauma, yes. Grief, yes.
But also joy. So much love. Deep connections.
I carry all of it with me, every version of me that made it here.
Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Here’s to healing, becoming, and living with intention.
On a boat in Calula, I met a Palestinian fisherman whose father moved to Somalia in 1950’s. Now, the son continues the legacy, fishing the waters and building his life with a local bride. A beautiful blend of history and culture 🇸🇴🤝🇵🇸
If you visit Caluula please meet him, he was so kind and speaks perfect Somali.
