🚨FUN FACT FRIDAY🚨 The band Styx came to perform at the SMC on February 7, 2003. Did you know that the former lead singer, Dennis DeYoung, suffered from a mysterious debilitating nerve condition after having a tooth pulled? DeYoung had a wisdom tooth pulled in 1997 and started dealing with the pain immediately after. Doctors couldn't explain what was wrong and it wasn't until 18 months later that DeYoung discovered that wearing sunglasses to block light exposure gave him relief. Unfortunately, he had to miss touring with the band in 1999 because of this issue.

🚨FUN FACT FRIDAY🚨 Nickelback performed at the SMC on October 25, 2003. Did you know that the lead singer, Chad Kroeger, got into a lot of trouble as a kid? In an interview, Kroeger talked about his childhood and how he was put in a juvenile detention center at the age of 14 for breaking into his school 11 times.

Based in Sonora, California, Rick Bacon is the owner of Rick Bacon’s Customs & Collision, a full-service collision, custom paint, and autobody shop he opened in 2014 after returning to his hometown. His journey in the auto body world spans more than 37 years, beginning with his first shop, The Body Shop for You, which he opened in 1996 before heading to Tennessee to pursue television. Rick became a familiar face to car enthusiasts nationwide as a host on Spike TV’s MuscleCar, has appeared on Horsepower, Trucks!, and Search and Restore. He was also part of the “A” Team on Overhaulin’ with Chip Foose. He’s not only a master builder, but also a respected educator in the industry—co-authoring the book Custom Car Painting on a Budget with Dennis Parks. Known for his incredible custom paint work and passion for the craft, Rick Bacon “The Arsonist” has built a loyal following and continues to inspire car builders across the country. Now, he’s bringing that experience and energy here to Cape Girardeau. 🚨FUN FACT FRIDAY🚨 Toby Keith played at the SMC on March 9, 2003. Did you know he played football at one point? Before chasing his dream of being a country music star, Keith worked in the oil field. When work in the oil industry started to dry up, he started playing football for a semi-pro team called the Oklahoma Drillers while playing music on the side. Eventually, he would go all in on music and make his way to Nashville to be on stage, but it is interesting to know that he also had his time to shine on the football field.
