.
Pomegranate Moon, is a site-specific gallery installation centered around a central chandelier composed of neon, mirror, cast glass, and cast bronze fruit and shells. In one corner of the gallery, a sculptural female figure in repose functions as a projection surface for a looped video depicting a woman— framed as a fallen muse—lounging and eating fruit in a state of quiet, unselfconscious intimacy. Three additional sculptural works are mounted on the gallery walls: a bronze shell pierced by a neon rod; a pomegranate impaled by an arrow; and a conch shell from which a female figure emerges.

Danny Minnick’s work is characterized by bold, instinctive layers of color and line, with his painting style moving fluidly between abstraction and figuration. Stylized skeletons with a “plus” sign in the torso frequent his work, as a global symbol of positive energy and human will. Often described as a “free-flow” of ideas, his work results in complex compositions that convey a formidable aesthetic presence and a deeply visceral experience for the viewer.

Coven! Our LOE group show, ARCANA runs until November 15, in partnership with @gallery33sm@showgallery & @curatedbymargot
This magical collective exhibit of original tarot and divinatory artworks is currently on view at @thegeorgian in Santa Monica, California - more info below!
Presented by TASCHEN’s acclaimed Library of Esoterica series, ARCANA brings together works by contemporary artists alongside rare historic examples, highlighting Tarot and oracle decks as evolving artistic mediums that blend painting, illustration, and design with archetypal storytelling.
Over centuries, creatives have used the oracle card format to explore identity, ritual, and imagination. ARCANA illuminates this lineage, showing how these symbolic systems continue to inspire art that functions as both mirror and map—a tool of reflection, imagination, and spiritual inquiry.
The exhibition features works by:
Meagan Boyd
Melinda Lee Holm & Rohan Eason
Michael Eaton & Arish A. Khan
Isis Indriya
Kim Krans
Pamela Love & Krys Maniecki

“People find their truth in art whether it’s music or painting or literature. They bring their world to the work and find what they need. They’re not trying to figure out, and they shouldn’t be trying to figure out, what I meant.
One should never appeal to an artist about any truth or wisdom in the world.
We’re facilitators and when the audience comes to it that’s when the magic happens.”

“When I finished the novel, I realized that I wasn’t done with the subject.”
.
As well as being an award-winning writer, Percival Everett is also an accomplished artist. On the surface, his novel The Trees, Dua Lipa’s #MonthlyRead for September, reads like a murder mystery. But look deeper and it’s a fearless interrogation of America’s unfinished history of lynching.
.
In their conversation for the #Service95BookClubPodcast, Percival explains to Dua: “Painting is far more emotional and visceral to me than writing…There’s a standing away from it, and so it can be less intellectual and a lot more emotional.” After completing the novel, Percival created a series of paintings, ‘Once Seen’. Each work is named after a victim of lynching, echoing the devastating roll call of victims from The Trees. The exhibition catalogue published by #hatandbeardpress juxtaposes Percival’s paintings within a reproduction of an issue of The Crisis magazine from 1921 that focused on lynching, reinforcing the message that racially motivated murder remains present but is continuously ignored.

Mixed media collage painting by Los Angeles-based artist and Pulitzer-prize winning author Percival Everett. The painting is part of the series Once Seen that serves as companions to his novel The Trees. Everett uses oil, water color and photographs of his own paintings to create the portraits of an American landscape that is ever-present but conveniently ignored.
.
“These works came into being over a period of two years, starting in 2019 when I began work on my novel The Trees,” says Everett. “It was the one century anniversary of the Red Summer, a summer that saw so many lynchings in the United States, which sadly has been repeated recently, that led to these paintings and the novel.”

Thierry Lefort’s unique perspective of The Georgian Hotel, built in Santa Monica in 1933. The historic Art Deco skyscraper was designed by M. Eugene Durfee and commissioned by Judge Harry J. Borde, envisioned as a glamorous hideaway for Hollywood’s elite. It featured a hidden speakeasy during Prohibition and hosted celebrities and notable figures like Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, and Rose Kennedy. The hotel was recently renovated bringing the speakeasy back to life and features an art gallery currently showcasing Thierry’s work.
