BOY HOWDY - have I been ready to share this one with you. This is what I’ve been carving away on in my silence. And goddamn does it make me so happy. Name and backstory still pending, but this was a joy to make. Really one you just have to see in person. I want the bug people to carry me off into the forest. 🪲🐌🦗🌲🍃
It’s DONE! Now I just need to actually submit it. My mixed media piece for the Joan of Art exhibition in association with Krewe Jeanne d’ Arc. Not only am I member this year, I decided to participate in their annual fundraiser. This piece is made out of a repurposed thrift store canvas, vintage fabrics, scrap EVA foam and water damaged chainmail rings. Weathering is my favorite thing. This piece really pushed me to combine my new found love of textiles and my core bread and butter, EVA armor construction. From the googly eye faux rivets to the hand stitched hair, this just brought me back to all my favorite methods. Now let’s see if I can get in, if not…no regrets, I adored this process and she can come with me to ren fair in November. 🗡️ swipe to see some close ups!
Scrapillon. Dimensional Art Piece for @thegreenproject charity gala @tgpsalvations ! My piece will be auctioned off with others to raise money for this local charity in support of their mission to keep salvaged materials out of landfills. My piece is roughly 95% made out of secondhand, salvaged, locally sourced non-conventional materials. I worked with predominately textiles giving new life to salvaged company t shirts, scraps from @ricracknola and more. The HOURS I’ve poured into this cording and design seem really worth it now. More to come on this 🧡 thank you to all that followed along in my stories and be sure to follow The Green Project, truly an awesome place. #tgpsalvations #thegreenproject #multimediaartist #textileartist
Followed a fun prompt by @queerspacephilly . Make a 5x7 minor or major arcana in your medium. Had a great time making this salvaged textile piece that will hopefully (🤞) be headed up north.
Looking back on these Dragula paints makes me start itching for the next one 👀 Jables’ may have some prosthetics concepting and building cooking up in my little cooky workshop. I’m inspired by my icon @greymatterfx and @panopticonsciousness is the royalty that is @thedahli
Kinusaiga is a Japanese contemporary art technique that uses fabric scraps to create no sew quilts by tucking fabric into a pliable base. Here is another little piece with it. My favorite brands of art are the tedious varieties. Whatever, I LIKE EYES OKAY! 👁️ 👄 👁️ All secondhand fabric scraps given a new life. 🧡
Gearing up for the Re-Makers Mart Wednesday @ricracknola . I really wanted to gear up on some new ways to use my fabric scraps for this one and gave kinusaiga a shot. All recycled materials all the time.
I was able to escape my job not once but twice this week. Got to go to @market_mystica and have a lovely time with the gang. Then did a little art and craft with some art pals tonight. I’m very tired but it was very cup filling to get out some. Catch me Wednesday @ricracknola for their Remakers Mart!
I have some time to actually work on some personal art here tomorrow and I’m so excited! Thank you for still hanging out while I navigate a week of drowning at my hourly gig. I think, THINK, the life vest is now fitted on me firmly. Enjoy some little artist trading card babies I knocked out. Some funnnnnn stuff is on the horizon. This Thursday @smallbatchartsmart this Saturday @market_mystica !
@ricracknola gave us the challenge of making something out of their provided secondhand materials and this year it was 🥁 RIBBONS! I made this fun little mobile perfect for the most whimsical of homes. Made entirely out of recycled ribbons except for the hoop which came from a thrifted embroidery hoop to keep the spirit of salvage materials. Also peep the set work @panopticonsciousness got to do for me 🤣 come see all our designs on 4/22 at their new location in the quarter. I will also be vending this event for their re-makers market. or mark your calendars to bid online in the auction it will be featured in. All the proceeds go directly back to the nonprofit. 🎀 year 3 in the books.
