When I made this dance, "Missed Connections", I was thinking about the missed connections section in the classified ads and on craigslist. I was thinking about how life can get in the way of a potential moment of connection, and the yearning and solitude that results from those missed moments.
I was commissioned by SHIFT, Dance Arts & Media dance to set a piece on their dancers, for 2 summer residencies in a row, which gave me the opportunity to turn this ensemble work into a 2-part piece. With the talent of the dancers, the vibes of Gibney, and the richness of the topic, I could have turned this into an evening-length ballet (in fact you know what, bring me back, Cherri!).
