Exactly four years ago.
May 9, 2022. I remember waking up that day with so much hope, eagerness, vigilance and determination to vote. And, I also remember, sleeping that night, so shaken, hopeless, angry, confused and totally broken.
I still find myself talking about the kakampink era with friends, colleagues, people and acquaintances I met during the campaign period. Even til this day, there are some strangers that would approach me or DM me and remember stuff I did for the pink movement.
I remember joining that zoom call for advertising volunteers a few days after the Oct 7 announcement of Leni. I remember all the advertising volunteer GCs I was a part of, all the H2H GCs I joined, all the art I made, all the merch I designed, sold and gave away. I remember all the new friends I made during that kakampink period, online, on-ground, all with the same familiar goal and values. I remember how inspired I was by all my friends who were volunteering and how infectious that spirit of volunteerism was.
I remember how easy it was to connect with people. I remember our kakampink connect online digital forum / space that reached 500,000 listeners that night of May 9. All the reports and stories and volunteers we were trying to help that night and how we were keeping each other company through out the devastating news of Leni and Kiko's loss. I remember all the stories of the people I got to talk to during the H2H campaigns. I remember the laughter, the tears, the heckling, the chaos, the heat, the struggles, the warm hugs, the cheers. I remember that flicker, that spark of joy in the eyes of people I would get to during the H2H days. To see them finally realize tbe power of their vote and how important that is. To see them finaly have hope for change.
I still remember everything.
That pink movement was indeed so powerful. And I still feel and see that spirit today. Kita-kits ulit sa 2028. 💗
Finally completed my Keith Haring Dancing Figures Lego Art Set! Waaah! I really look up to Keith Haring, his art, what he stood for and what he did with his life. Ome of the best Lego sets imo! 🫶🫶🫶
