When uncle Matty comes to town he likes to Turo fast stuff and make noise. The reviews on the eRay are mixed but positive. Massive power, epic braking. The styling is, uh styled, and the color was a hard no. But overall, it goes like hell. Folding chair, New Balance 608s, and build plaque sold separately.

Last week was Cora's 8th grade parent-teacher conference. It was self-directed. She had to tell us how she thought she was doing. Explaining her point of view on school and her approach to growth.
Midway through the self-assessment she told us that she is a happy person, and likes to do things that make her happy. It seemed so simple and simultaneously so wise. I think most of us are guilty of being a bit too heads down.
I just wrapped up a track day with my brother at Laguna seca. It made me happy. Thanks Cora and thanks Matty for a great day.

Of all the things our brains can hang onto, it’s kind of wild that this is one of mine. I can still see it pretty vividly. It was 2007. I had just parked and was walking to dinner when I saw a GT3RS bark down Main St. in Venice. It was orange with black lettering down the side. It had that nasty Mezger flat-six sound. If it hits for you, you know what I mean. I got that feeling in my stomach—the kind that just sort of sits there.
Fast-forward to my 50th. Blair booked me some seat time in a GT3 at the Porsche Experience Center. It happened on the front straight after the warm-up laps, and it’s part of the reason why the ’68 and the M Coupe have both found new homes.
Honestly, it would have been hard for the kid version of me to imagine ever making this happen. But here we are. After a few track days and as many canyon runs as I’ve been able to fit in, I can say with certainty: the car is completely nuts. And I’m fairly certain I might be too.

Last year I said goodbye to one of the most important things I’ve ever owned. I had her for 22 years. I debated the idea of selling every so often for the past few years. Every time I got close, I realized just how attached I was. But keeping it covered up in the driveway just to drive every so often isn’t why I bought it. It was time.
I remember the first time I saw images of the M Coupe showing up in Road & Track and Car and Driver. I was pretty obsessed. Apparently, it was willed to life by the engineers. Quick, stiff, and completely focused on the driver experience. They definitely got it right.Â
It was the first car that spooked me. The first car I drove over 140 mph. It was the first car I tracked. It would assume that duty several times over the years. It was a unique car. And for me, having something unique is an expression of one’s individuality. It’s mine, not just like yours. I used to think it was strange that I wanted something different. Like I was too self-aware of the concept. But I realized that the choices we make, whether about clothing, or haircuts, or cars, is important. It’s how we express who we are.Â
I said goodbye to her last March. She set the market for S52 M Coupes. Someone understood what a special car it was or could sense how much time and effort I spent taking care of it for the past 2 decades. Which made it feel like somehow it was worth it.
But like all things. It’s just a thing. An accessory to the journey. I like being able to let go. To make space for newness. It’s a lesson learned through the process that I have taken with me.
