What does it take to make a global opportunity truly accessible? Across Latin America, barriers such as limited internet access and a lack of information often prevent people from even considering applying. That’s why the Zayed Foundation partnered with Sherlock Communications. Together, we turned outreach into a collective effort. Working across 16 countries with 100+ partners, from ministries and universities to community leaders, we replaced generic calls to action with a human-centred approach, hyperlocal storytelling, workshops and personalised content shared through channels like WhatsApp. The results were significant, with over 1,200 applications, 1B+ reach and a 1,558% ROI. But the real impact goes beyond numbers. How to act when the launch of an important project coincides with a critical moment? Only two days before the launch of C40 Cities’ Laneshift initiative in Rio de Janeiro, a security crisis closed several roads and brought public transportation to a standstill. The original plan was to celebrate the new public charging network, but the situation called for sensitivity. Instead of backing down, Sherlock Communications quickly reframed the narrative, prioritising respect for residents and public safety. The event was rescheduled for another date. The result exceeded expectations. The campaign generated over 50 featured news stories, brought together major partners such as Volkswagen and Heineken and sparked interest in the C40 project from São Paulo and Belo Horizonte.
