Based on one of the promotional photos of @maria.themarias by @bethany.vargas for @themarias album Submarine🌀
🌊Water is a cleansing and a destructive force. Like a womb to the subconscious, it represents surrender to overwhelming emotion and external pressure, flowing from constraint to a space beyond conscious control. It is the end of one reality and the emergence of another,, metamorphosis🦋
—>Bc of the literal amount of layers of sheer iridescences between clear acrylic, a reflective mirror effect exists althroughout the painting! In the second photo, you can see the leaves from the tree outside reflected in the work
Mediums: acrylic paint, acrylic mediums (heavy gloss gel, glass medium, glazing medium, matte medium), a mirror attached in back with E6000 glue, iridescence, glass beads, marker, color pencil, pen, and charcoal on fiber paper glued to a canvas using archival safe glue,, and yes I have process photos, I will make sure 2 share! :)
*Depth varies a little over 1.5 inches bc of how thick paint is layered on, like water
