The Aesop Thonglor project is an exploration of how materials already present at a site, particularly wood, can be reused and adapted to reflect a brand's identity. This initiative is not just about showcasing local architectural talent and creativity; it extends to how wood, a native material, is managed and integrated within the existing construction to meet specific brand needs.
Shop Area - This space includes the main sales components like the counter sink, shelves, POS (point-of-sale system), and visual merchandising. The design employs wood simply, focusing on displaying the potential of each piece of wood without excessive modifications. The connections between the sink, POS, and visual merchandising areas feature joinery commonly found in traditional homes across the provinces, which respects the authenticity and imperfections of old wood. Additionally, the counter is topped with Thai black granite, a common material used in everyday Thai life, often seen in traditional kitchens.

The Sensorium Room, or ห้องฝาไหล, is an area dedicated to displaying products related to scents. This necessitates the creation of an ambiance that immerses visitors in a tranquil. The design of this space utilizes a new arrangment wall structure crafted from repurposed teak floor originally found on site. The wood is ingeniously grouped and vertically reorganized to form a semi-enclosed area, transforming into the sensorium Room.
This architectural feature explores the concept of Domestic Folk Tectonics, a tribute to the indigenous craftsmanship that should be honored. ห้องฝาไหล are a common architectural element in traditional Northern woodworking, adeptly demonstrating respect for the original wood characteristics while also showcasing the local carpenters' ingenuity in managing wood for practical uses. Typically found in kitchens or wash areas, slatted walls serve dual purposes—ventilation and privacy—effectively balancing functionality with intimacy.
The continuous evolution, adoption, and adaptation of this wall system highlight its role as a Domestic detail—simple yet ingeniously smart. It exemplifies the potential of folk craft, marking it as a significant architectural detail that resonates with the intelligence and creativity inherent in traditional craftsmanship.

Really appreciate #aesop that put the trust on our hands-on process to participate in design and make Visual merchandising from the local found wood, The VM is come from the half log sawing by hand into long section and joint the leg with folk joinery. The umbrela and sample stand is from the reclaimed wood column split into the usefull hight and pack it into the shop front .
