💥Episode 50 of “The Rest is Commentary” is with JON MADOF💥 Jon and I talk about the role of rhythm and lyrics and songwriting, spirituality, Jewish identity and jazz, Jewish musical traditions and spiritual practices, musical and spiritual growth, playing what you’re meant to play, halacha as a dynamic process, the tension between serving yourself and serving your audience, and so much more. All inspired by Jon’s thoughts after listening to “Angels Do My Bidding”, which was inspired by Psalms 54, 103, and more. The song is a teaser from my upcoming EP, which was started in a @shannainadress song sprint and will be released in Q3 of 2026. Jon Madof @jonmadof is a phenomenal New York guitarist, composer, producer, and band leader, best known for his bands Zion80 and Rashanim and his hypnotic mix of avant-garde jazz, post-punk, East African groove, and Jewish themes. Jon’s latest album, Netzach, was recorded with his trio live and is set to be released on August 14th, 2026. You can find it wherever music is streamed or sold. You can learn more about Jon and get his touring schedule at . Listen on ITunes, Spotify, SoundCloud or wherever you stream your podcasts and music. “The Rest is Commentary” is a podcast that explores connections through music, ancient wisdom, and conversations. Shep Rosenman is writing a song cycle inspired by the Psalms/Tehillim. In each episode, Shep offers one of his songs to a friend and they discuss whatever comes up, from the mundane to the sublime, the philosophical to the sophomoric, from dark and narrow places to wide open spaces of joy. There are now 50 episodes to listen to with @jonmadof as the most recent guest who joins host @sheprosenman in conversation. Now for the shameless self-promotion bit, it really helps if you share the episodes and songs, and if you like, comment, and subscribe to the podcast, and to me as an artist on your favorite platforms. Listen on ITunes, Spotify, SoundCloud or wherever you stream your podcasts and music. 🍎 /us/artist/shep-rosenman/1716614348 ✳️ /artist/7GlYueo0xiLoDS8PIk3GYw?si=RHxwag9qQbqmDVKrr0uvSw 🎙️/ Thank you to my team who helps make each Psalm song and podcast episode happen: Podcast * Devan Schwartz @schwartzest * David Coile @david_coile * Emil Stern @emilstern * e Rose @eytanrosenman Musicians * Sean Kawanami * Jim Wright * Miles Clark @miles.a.clark * Josh Silvera @joshdoesmusic Thank you to my songwriting partner Liz Hanellin, Jesica Chana Sweedler @wanderingbookseller for her help on social media, to Leat Silvera @leatsilveraart for designing the podcast logo, and to my wife, Shari @sharirosenman , for everything. #therestiscommentary #sheprosenman #psalmsongs #psalmsong #jewishpodcast tehillim jewishpodcasts tehillimsongs

My newest Psalm song, “Angels Do My Bidding” has just released with my 50th episode of my podcast, “The Rest is Commentary”. Thanks so much for listening. Huge thanks to @jonmadof for joining me in conversation, connection and learning. Check out his new album, Netzach on your favorite platform. It releases on 8/14/26. Visit jonmadof.com, and go see him live when he’s in your town. You won’t regret it. Thanks as well to Devin Schwartz and Eros @erosemusic21 for their producing help, to Shanna in a Dress @shannainadress for pushing her students to create songs that challenge us while staying true to ourselves, to Jesica Chana Sweedler @wanderingbookseller for her constant help on social media, to Leat Silvera @leatsilveraart , not only for the podcast logo, but for the song art. See more at leatsilvera.com, and to my wife Shari @sharirosenman , who is my angel, but in truth, I’m the one who does Shari’s bidding. You can find “Angels Do My Bidding” and all of the other songs in this song cycle on most platforms that stream or download music, including Spotify and Apple and YouTube. Look for the upcoming EP in Q3 of 2026. I want to remind you that it really helps if you share the episodes and the songs, and if you like and comment and subscribe to the podcast and to me.

Enjoy episode 49 of my podcast “The Rest is Commentary”. Raymond Simonson @raymondsimonson and I talked for this episode (out now wherever you stream) in the summer of 2023, before October 7th, and before the current wave of anti-Semitic attacks, arson against synagogues and stabbings made the victims heal, that took place in London and across the UK in the last couple of weeks. As you listen, I want to name my love and solidarity with Raymond, with JW3 @jw3london and with the wider UK Jewish community in this painful time. In our conversation, we talk about youth movements and community as sources of resilience and hope, how music and social commentary can move people toward collective action, re-reading traditional texts for our moment, and Rabbi Akiva laughing among the ruins, insisting on hope, joy and connection even when so much feels broken, and so much more. We start our conversation, as I do with each of my guests, by listening to a Psalm song I have written. “Fire Drill Fridays” inspired by Psalm 102, which I wrote with a group of participants in a songwriting workshop I led for the @limmudna Limmud North America’s E-Festival back in 2020 at the outset of COVID. People told some stories, we connected it to the psalm and the song is what came out of that. #limmudnorthamerica #therestiscommentary #sheprosenman #psalm102 #raymondsimonson

🌘שבוע טוב 🌑Shavua Tov🌒 We are all listening to @erosemusic21 ‘s new music on repeat. 🌊Waves: https://youtu.be/w-JA7b8rmsw?si=RQZw9u6gPYQwOkL5 😊Smile: https://youtu.be/JOrYNucNtSg?si=wRADfD7dZkOAtsDX BIOGRAPHY (and my son) e Rose is a multihyphenate. The rapper/singer/producer/engineer makes hiphop music that is intended to leave listeners more connected to oneself and inspires them to think about and experience life in a new light. His chill and melodic production and vocals, most often compared with that of Mac Miller, are blended with introspective storytelling to help listeners connect on more than just a surface level. For the LA native, music has always been a big part of the rapper’s life. From playing in bands and orchestra to being educated by his father’s expansive knowledge and love for all kinds of music. Early on, e Rose became fascinated with the storytelling and cadences associated with hiphop. Deep down, he always dreamed of being in the rap scene, whether or not he was aware of it at the time. His love for eclectic music and passion for hiphop are ever present in his production and shine through the intersection of rapping and singing in his music. #erose #eytanrosenman #waves #wavessong #smilesong
