Just have to give another shout out to this storage wonder by the one and only @popstrukt.furniture My Popstrukt furniture family has grown over the years and even though I love every one of them, I can say with ease that the Bon Bon Double Locker is my favorite design and colour - Moss Grey. It just offers so much as it can transform with your needs as your family grows and your home unfolds. In general I love wooden furniture and the warmth it provides, but over time I have come to love juxtaposing smooth Popstrukt furniture with the rest of the natural material palette in my home. Juxtaposing is a great way to create interest in interiors, but often people make the mistake to think you can only do it if you have a bold or colourful home. Anyway, back to the magic - this multifunctional unit consists of 3 drawers at the bottom and shelving at the top, that can also be transferred to hanging space with an additional rod and hanging brackets. Like 123. I think this is a phenomenal example of design as a response to a need of storage in both small and larger spaces. I use mine in my office for all my samples - in combination with Popstrukt’s waffle baskets and a variety of crates in different sizes.

Last year November we decided to transform our storage room into office space. Our office has always just been in one of our rooms, but with a little human growing into a full fledged toddler, we felt the need to have a clearer boundary between life and work. It was the best decision — and reflecting on how we have been inhabiting, enjoying and slowly unfolding this space over the past year leaves me with a deeply thankful smile on my face. This project was so near to my heart and my love for interiors, but it also challenged me to : 1. Embrace limitations 2. Find creative, and cost effective solutions like making a pin board out of building material 3. To see the beauty in creating slowly As a product developer and interior enthusiast, storage is of the essence in my office as I have heaps and heaps of samples to organise in a sensible way. Enter in the new Bon Bon Double Locker from @popstrukt.furniture - a storage dream! Mine is in Moss Grey and currently I only use it with its shelving, but it also has the added benefit of hanging space should you wish. Add Popstrukt waffle baskets and crates and you are truly sorted. I am very sensitive to my environment and creating an office with a peaceful, creative, organised and light-filled atmosphere is crucial to how I work. Scroll to the last images to see where it all started, because who doesn’t love a good old before and after.

Last year we renovated & converted our storage room outside of our home to office space. As James grew, we realised that we want to work from a place that is a little bit more removed from the heart of our home. To have a boundary between ‘work & life’ as our office used to be in one of the bedrooms. In many ways it is just a very simple space, but slowly and intentionally we have been adding little details. I am a firm believer in fusing functionality with aesthetics when it comes to spaces that needs to do hard work. One of my favorite pieces that aligns with this ethos is our @pedersenlennard deluxe shelving system. Ours is 5-tiers with ash shelves and an ivory colour frame. Shelving is such a great way to be purposeful with what and how you display things. You can decide how you want to balance beauty vs. practicality and the best part is you can change it up all the time, any time. Currently I am mixing up mine with beautiful work samples in white wire storage baskets from @popstrukt.furniture , a few of my favorite design books and objects that inspire me at the moment. Full before & after coming soon.

This special work of art by the hands of my friend @nadine.hansen_artist just made her way into my home and she is a gentle presence of beauty. But her essence is yet to be captured through the eye of the beholder by giving her a name. Since art touches every soul in a different way, we thought, let’s hear what you see in her. We often see best, when we pause and stand still. Will you take a moment to pause, look and let us know your thoughts? The person whose artwork name we resonate with the most will be blessed with one of Nadine’s limited edition blind embossed pieces titled Inner Eden. Carved from lino and embossed by hand. ( last two images ) So how to enter? Simply follow both of us and share the artwork with your name for the artwork on your stories and tag us both so we can see your entry. We’ll announce the winner on Friday afternoon!

Quiet moments from the past week. When life stood still for a moment to look, to listen, to be present to the goodness that surrounds me.

When my breastfeeding journey with James naturally came to a beautiful end a few weeks ago, I found myself feeling so incredibly grateful. For the journey, but also for the amazing ability our female bodies have and how our largest organ, our skin, ebbs and flows with us on this path. I entered my motherhood journey with a super simple skincare routine. I literally only used one product. An oil that I cleansed & moisturized with all along. But since breastfeeding takes a lot out of our skin, I decided to give my face a little extra love and nurturing to celebrate the end and beginning of a new phase. — I was delighted to hear about @esseskincare_ ‘s new product called Prescript since I have been an Esse fan for many years. Prescript is the first personalised skincare product in SA that is literally formulated UNIQUELY FOR YOU after a holistic consultation that takes all your specific needs in consideration. I’ll share a little more about how the process works soon. It is literally skincare with your name on it AND it is so beautifully simple. 2 products with all the goodness your skin needs right now, in the season your skin finds itself in. A big thank you to my local skin magician, Tanya, from @theskinzonestilbaai for taking me through the process with so much attention to detail & care.

Every year as the mornings become a bit more fresh and crispy, these little flowers pop up on three specific spots on my out and back run path next to the river. I’ve never seen them first — because before you see them, you smell them. It’s like sweet honey pockets in the air. When I created my Floreer botanical perfume in 2020, they were a building block inspiration for the scent I was after. — But apart from the beautiful smell, the main thought that always linger in my mind is this : what if I can become a person of love and kindness whose presence is like a sweet smelling aroma to the people around me. I believe I can. I might be very far from where I want to be. But I am on the journey. And every year when they show up they also remind me to reflect on how far I have come. Giving me hope to keep pressing on towards that sweet smelling aroma.

One day…when I don’t have bills to pay, I’m going to buy a tiny piece of land next to the Stilbaai coast and set up a little ceramic studio in the middle of the field where I will go and sit in solitude and make porcelain flowers for a living. What is your one day dream? — Images inspiration from Pinterest
