Hello friends near and far. It’s with great joy I invite you to my first solo exhibition of photographic work, Pruthuvi. It will be displayed on the walls of Siriniwasa Freedom Gallery @samamukthifreedom in Ahangama from the 7th to the 25th of March, 2026.
After so many years behind the lens, it was only apt to start by paying homage to our home planet, the mother, the bedrock on which all life thrives.
There are worlds within worlds undiscovered. Its beauty itself can revitalise and invoke passion to the once clear-eyed children that we were, born naked in to our nurturers embrace.

We humans keep playing with fire. The earth and kin are now playthings of our burning desire.
The power we seem to possess is not of us, it is of the fire itself, and it will burn us too.
Shehan Obeysekara: Kin
Multicellular ancestors for over one and half billion years, still evolving on earth together. There is no life in isolation. We’re kindred, both in matter and spirit. Photographed in the Dumbara mountain range (2025).
Shehan Obeysekara is a multi-disciplinary artist, photographer and filmmaker, based in Rathnapura, Sri Lanka. He has spent years traveling extensively around the island photographing nature, and the people and places that surround them. During these journeys’ he has observed immense beauty, decay and the subtle and loud tensions in the relationship between nature and human society. Over the years both commissioned work and personal projects has been guided by the passion to learn and expose these tensions to himself and to hopefully to others through his work.

The moon was almost full, the neurons galvanized, mind ebbed to the edge of the known world. “Open your mouth, this will fix you.” So I did. Then I took my lawn on to the horse. #lunacycle #lunacy #whatsyourmoonsign
