✨🌱🐇ANNOUNCEMENT🐢🪾✨ With gratitude and great excitement, I am now the proud owner of Tortoise and the Hair. @tortoiseandtheh4ir My goal with Tortoise and the Hair (TATH) is to curate a welcoming, comfortable, safe environment for all folk. Less sensory overwhelm, more attention to detail. Another intention of TATH is to bring a sense of ease. Expect to feel like you are visiting granny’s cottage draped in nature - where all critters big and small gather to slow down, reset, relax, and ground themselves. I passed my MA stateboard inspection early Tuesday, April 7th - meaning not only am I a business owner, I now am allowed to fully operate as a salon owner! I will be spending all day Wednesday 4/8 and Thursday 4/9 this week putting finishing touches on my new online booking site - GlossGenius - rescheduling existing appointments from this past week & adding prebooked future appointments into the new booking software before announcing that GlossGenius is live for everyone. There will also be a full rebranding and new launch of my previously personal Sheerlock combs website specifically for @tortoiseandtheh4ir . Your endless support and warmth over the years is how I am able to make my dreams a reality and share them with you. Thank you so very kindly and deeply for believing in me. A couple years ago, someone suggested that I should sit down and write out my values/what is important to me. It felt silly at the time. I remember sitting at one of the coffee shops I have been frequenting for just about the last 10 years. It was the end of summer. Accompanied by an iced vanilla oat milk latte, I sat in sun with my palm size journal and marinated on what matters to me. While sitting there, I watched as a woman with two children were about to cross the street in front of the courtyard. The two little girls smiled at each other, looked up at the woman who smiled right back at them then all 3 of them locked hands and walked with their heads high across the street. A simple moment that depicted so much beauty. I share this random snippet to say that my hopes with creating Tortoise and the Hair is a reminder of the beauty (I tend to say magic most of the time) that is constantly around - sometimes it just requires moving slower to be able to appreciate it.

I believe we started working together 6ish years ago so honestly first appointment together in my studio felt extra cool because of how much we have grown in that time. Thanks for the trust, great banter/laughs and support throughout the years. Brought up the lightness, added a pop of pink and refreshed the haircut for Jamie!🌷

First haircut at Tortoise and the Hair last week. Couldn’t have been more thrilled to share that special moment with one of my longtime clients that’s become a close pal over the years - thank you for believing in me, Kate! Today’s my first full day of back to back haircuts at TATH. I am so excited. 13 year old me is in awe that this is what my life has become. I want to make that little person still inside of me proud, and be the human I needed then as I continue to move through this wild life. Thanks for helping make that possible. I’ll be checking emails before the day really picks up, and again a bit afterwards. Please peep your texts or emails if we were going back/forth about trying to get you rescheduled. Quick update: I have sent out emails to clients that were scheduled with me yesterday 4/7. I will be spending the majority of my day finalizing adding folk who were scheduled with me until July into my GlossGenius software. My website (previously sheerlockcombs.squarespace.com) is private right now as I convert from individualized branding to bringing to life what will be tortoiseandthehairstudio.com (both domains will work until end of the year - just start letting TATH marinate). I will be posting more thorough studio policies, directions/how to get inside the locked entrance (heck yes privacy/security), etc. over the next few days. quick little eye update! I am healing and on the mend. My right eye’s vision is still incredibly blurry, but a lot of other symptoms are subsiding yay! My schedule is still slightly affected by doctor follow ups and healing so entirely apologize to anyone affected. If you are having any trouble rescheduling, please reach out! Appreciate ya’ll!
