“When planning the shoot for High Regards ‘White Lilies’ I knew I wanted to use my favourite lightweight anamorphics for this job. We had quite a few scenes to cover so I knew I’d need a quick run and gun rig at points, so I opted to pair the Mercurys with the Sony A7sIII as the 1.5x anamorphics look great on the full frame sensor when desqueezed. The majority of the shoot was done on the 72mm and 42mm, 72mm is my preferred focal choice for the portraits as it renders such a beautiful image. The mercurys capture the natural details and textures of places so well so I knew when filming in the abandoned school it would help us capture its incredible detail. I threw a 1200D through the window so I could achieve some flares when shooting straight on, but also be able to shoot from other angles and not have to worry about excessive flares. I love the natural flares you get from the Mercury series and how a hard source will set them off, not just any random light. With all these factors they were the perfect tools for the job!”
