Climate change is already affecting health, but not equally. From heat stress to disrupted care, these impacts are uneven. Gender shapes who is most affected, and who carries the burden.
While #Kenya has strong climate frameworks, the gap lies in how they translate on the ground. Health is not always centred, and womenâs realities are often missing in implementation.

âSheâs tiredâŚtired from the heat, from floods, from carrying water.â
This is the reality for millions of girls across the world.
As a doctor, I see how climate change is already impacting health, yet we canât prescribe clean air or safe homes. What we can do is change who gets a seat at the table.
Thatâs why I support @sheclimate , working to put more women at the forefront of climate decision-making.
Your donation is doubled until 29 April.

đ Earth Day is not a moment.
Itâs a mandate.
This yearâs theme reminds us: the future is shaped by what we choose now.
đđžTo shift resources.
đđžTo back Indigenous leadership.
đđžTo move from extraction to reciprocity.
Because climate justice isnât just about protecting the Earth ă°ď¸ itâs about protecting each other, and the generations to come.
âAll flourishing is mutual.â ă°ď¸Robin Wall Kimmerer
So the question is: What role will you play?
đđžJoin the circle.
đđžStand with community.
đđžBe part of a growing movement redistributing wealth, power, and care ă°ď¸ into the hands of those who have always protected Country.
âđžEarth Day is every day.
And the time to act is now.

đ˘ New Policy Brief
Climate change is not gender neutral, and its impacts on womenâs health in Kenya are already being felt. Our new policy brief analyses three key pathways linking climate change and womenâs health:
đĄď¸ Heat exposure and unpaid care burdens
đž Agriculture and food system vulnerabilities
đĽ The resilience of women-led health initiatives
The brief also highlights practical entry points for integrating gender-responsive health approaches into Nationally Determined Contributions (#NDCs), ahead of #COP31 this year.
Insights are grounded in research and policy analysis and are further strengthened by stakeholder perspectives shared during a #SHEChangesClimateKenya virtual roundtable held on 13 March 2026.
We invite policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and advocates to read the brief and join the conversation on gender-responsive climate and health policy. đ

Climate change shows up in our bodies long before it shows up in headlines. Thatâs why we start with healthâand what it takes to safeguard it.
At the heart of the conversation is one core message: climate plans must be both health-centred and gender-aware. While many climate plans reference health, the depth of that commitment varies widely, and womenâs health is rarely addressed explicitly.
So what would it take for climate plans to truly centre health and account for gender? #ClimateAction that ignores either is incomplete.
Our latest blog, âClimate Change is a Health Crisis. Its Costs Are Unequal, and Women Often Pay the Price,â explores this question in more depth.
Climate change is a health crisis. It is already shaping everyday life: the air we breathe, extreme heat, access to care during disasters, and more. But these impacts donât land equally. Gender shapes who is exposed, who is protected, and who is expected to cope.
This blog piece sets out the global picture, framing the crucial intersection of gender, health and climate change and the policy gaps that exist. Health is still treated too lightly in climate plans, and womenâs health is even less visible.

đĄď¸Climate change is not only a crisis of rising temperatures and emissions. It is also a health crisis.
Heat, polluted air, floods, and disrupted health services are already reshaping what it means to stay well. These impacts are not felt equally. Gender influences exposure to risk, access to care, and the ability to recover. Yet womenâs health is still rarely made explicit in climate plans, even as these risks intensify.
đŁď¸We are announcing our new campaign on the gendered health impacts of #climatechange. These issues can no longer be addressed in silos.
Over the next few weeks, we will examine the global conversations shaping this intersection of Gender Ă Health Ă Climate Change. We will also take a closer look at #India đŽđł and #Kenya đ°đŞ, asking: Do climate plans reflect the realities of womenâs health, and are those plans being implemented?
