I’m a shecanic. Are you? What does being a shecanic mean? First, I’d like to say, any woman can be a shecanic! A shecanic is not a female mechanic or a woman who works on cars. This is a misconception because of the play on words.
A Shecanic is a car savvy lady! She is your mother. She is your sister. She is your aunt. She is your daughter.
She has felt taken advantage of by a mechanic, felt powerless when their car broke down or needed to rely on a father, brother or male friend when they took their vehicle to a mechanic for service. She avoided car maintenance repair out of shame and fear.
Prior to 2012, this was me. I called myself an auto-airhead. My knowledge of cars was to turn the key and go. I felt taken advantage of plenty of times by repair shops regardless of size and name. My response to most statements of, “You need this for your car,” was either a shrug followed by an “ok” or a “nope, not doing it.” It really just depended on my mood that day.
I was tired of having no control over my car. I wanted to be a confident driver and a smart consumer. I set out on educating myself about cars and sharing this knowledge with women. As I became a shecanic, so can you!

I'll immediately stop you before you can ask your question and explain. There is no stupid question. If it is in your mind, if you are curious to know, speak up. Ask it! That is the only way to learn. Who cares what others think? 9 times out of 10 they are too scared to ask a question themselves.
