@north.star.teens Presents: Journey Through Oz on May 23rd at 3:00 and 7:00PM and May 24th at 3:00 PM Follow a contemporary Dorothy and her beloved Toto as they make their way through the lands of Oz, trying to get back home. Familiar characters like the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion are joined by lesser-known folk from the original book like Queen of the Field Mice, the Stork, the Hammer-Heads, and more. The North Star Players offer their unique adaptation of Frank L. Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, exploring the deep friendships and harsh conflicts Dorothy grapples with as she finds her way home. Tickets are offered on a sliding scale, please select from the choices below. There will also be tickets available at the door. Earth Music Theater Live Comes to Turners Falls May 31 with Astronaut @astro_cady and @montebelmonte of @nepublicmedia Immersive performance blends live music, space imagery, and storytelling at Shea Theater Arts Center Turners Falls, MA — Earth Music Theater Live (EMTL) arrives at the Shea Theater Arts Center on Sunday, May 31 at 4 PM, bringing a powerful, immersive experience that fuses live music with stunning imagery of Earth captured by astronauts aboard the International Space Station. Created by Northampton-based composer and guitarist Steve Thomas, EMTL is a genre-defying performance that combines cinematic soundscapes, spoken word, and astronaut perspectives to explore our planet from space—inviting audiences to reflect on the beauty, fragility, and interconnectedness of life on Earth. The performance features a standout ensemble of Valley musicians including Chris Cheek (alto saxophone), Claire Arenius (drums and percussion), Josh Metz (acoustic bass), and Easthampton-based multi-instrumentalist Carl Clements (bansuri, flute, soprano saxophone). Together, they create dynamic, genre-spanning music that evolves in real time alongside breathtaking visual sequences from orbit. The May 31 performance features special guest @astrocady , whose stories from her time aboard the International Space Station add a deeply personal and inspiring dimension to the program. Joining Coleman for a special appearance is radio host Monte Belmonte, creating a unique onstage dialogue that connects science, storytelling, and lived experience. Following the performance, Coleman will host a book signing of her memoir, Sharing Space: An Astronaut’s Guide to Mission, Wonder, and Making Change, offering audiences an opportunity to engage more directly with her remarkable journey. A scratch-built scale model of the International Space Station will also be on display, giving audiences an up-close look at the remarkable orbiting laboratory from where the stunning images in the performance were captured. With support from community partners and sponsors, EMTL is committed to offering accessible, free to low-cost admission for all!

This afternoon, starting NOW: please join us to honor the memory of Natalie Dansie Graves and support their beloved @33hawley at the same time ❤️‍🩹 Nat Graves was an integral part of the 33 Hawley community (and so many others!), and worked closely with NCFA staff on many projects and endeavors. Our hearts are heavy. Please, please come join us at The Shea to celebrate their life and legacy. Absence | Presence, a memorial event for Natalie Dansie Graves, will be held TODAY, Sunday, May 3rd from 4:30-6:30. Whether you knew Nat well, met them once, witnessed a project or performance they worked on, or know someone who loved them, please join us in celebrating their life and impact on our community. This free gathering features musical contributions by Cloudbelly as well as food from Stone Soup Cafe. Videos and installations of Nat’s artistic contributions will be viewable and interactive in the lobbies of the Shea Theater before a memorial service. Donations may be made in Nat’s honor in support of 33 Hawley, a project of the Northampton Community Arts Trust, via NCFA’s website at nohoarts.org.
