stopped by the 11th best ranked Chinese restaurant in the U.S. (per Yelp!) — Pepper House in Ellicott City — and it def makes sense why they were recognized 🤩
I honestly loved everything I tried, but the beef dry pot was the standout. I’m usually not big on that numbing Sichuan peppercorn feeling, but they put in the perfect amount — just enough to bring the flavor without it being overwhleming. Everything else was super flavorful toooo…the cold dishes are perfect for the random hot humid days we’ve been having 🙂↕️
The space is cozy and low-key, the service was great, and they’re mostly known for carry out but there is seating if you want to dine in. Will be back for sure ☺️

crazy this omakase is only $58 for 12 courses in west village. 10 nigiri, a hand roll, and dessert. very clean and minimal. lets the fish speak for itself instead of covering everything in sauces and toppings. the minimal, clean interior tied the whole experience together perfectly. also loved that the sake selection started at just $12.

made with jumbo lump crab mozzarella roasted peppers and old bay remoulade all wrapped in housemade dough the flavors were so good, fresh, and perfectly balanced
still in disbelief how much crab was on this 😭 and adding a squeeze of lemon on top made it even better 🍋🔥 you guys gotta try this ASAPPP

first time trying Uyghur food and I get it now🙂↕️it blends Central Asian and Chinese flavors in the best way. everything was super flavorful without being heavy. my favorites were the beef noodle soup, the soman, and the kebabs…those were easily the standout. the spot itself was cozy and straightforward, super busy (for a reason).
also saw they were ranked #25 best restaurant in DC by the NYT and #8 in Arlington by the Washington Post, which makes sense. def a hole in the wall spot worth checking out

tried Jeju black pork for the first time at @jeju_rooftop_blackpork in Korea
they’re raised on Jeju Island and traditionally fed things like grains and sweet potatoes, which gives the meat more depth and a slightly sweeter, cleaner flavor 🙂↕️
& soju from jeju apparently tastes icy from the mountains
