Ben tells us, “This was my first show, so it’s pretty interesting,” adding that “the laser cutting I have not had much to do with, so this was new for me, and the 3D printing tech was great to see.”

It's not every day we get to see our finished product fully installed and ready to roll 🙌
We recently had one of our API 16D BOP Control Units back on site for final drawdown — hard lines on the XDR75 catwalk trailer and commissioning of the HMI remote panel. This unit has been designed to fit the XDR75 catwalk perfectly, with only millimetres to spare. A showstopper, genuinely.
One of the Sharpe® advantages: when we supply both the BOP stack and the Control Unit, we can carry out validation and final drawdown testing using your exact equipment — giving the most accurate results and full confidence before it heads to site.
Testing was a success, and we can't wait to see this rig build complete and out to work 👏

We're looking for a Quality Inspector with a 'Sharpe® eye' for detail to join our Roma team.
Your role will ensure compliance of our products according to our strict quality control measures, while promoting quality awareness within our Roma manufacturing facility.
You will be responsible for the inspection of components and finished products to ensure accuracy, conducting visual and dimensional inspections of manufactured/repaired products produced by our team, and verifying and reporting results in line with specifications and our quality requirements.
You will have:
✨ Mechanical trade qualification or related field (preferred)
✨ Minimum of 1 year experience in manufacturing quality inspection (preferred)
✨ Knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001 or similar)
✨ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
✨ Attention to detail, and pride in maintaining high quality standards of work for our valued customers

Last week, Ellen and Jon travelled to South Korea to attend SIMTOS 2026 at KINTEX, Goyang — one of the world's leading exhibitions for advanced manufacturing and machine tool technology.
Hosted by SMEC, the event brought together dealers, customers, and industry leaders from across the globe. It was a valuable opportunity to explore the latest developments in CNC machining, automation, and smart manufacturing, while strengthening relationships with key partners.
Other highlights from the week included the SMEC factory tour in Busan, the keynote presentation on New Development Machines presented by Michael Chung (Director of Overseas Sales), and the SMEC Dinner Party, featuring a performance of traditional Korean song and dance.
A big thank you to Boone & Claire Johnston at @bjcmachinetools and @smecmachinetools for their hospitality and for delivering such a well-organised and engaging program. Congratulations also to the BJC team on receiving the Distinguished Dealer Award at the event dinner — a well-deserved recognition.
