On a chilly November night, four teenage boys—basketball star Robbie Washington, his best friend Andy Jackson, and their homeboys Tyrone Mills and B.J. Carson—go joyriding after a basketball game. Andy drives drunk, and their car crashes. Andy, B.J. and Tyrone survive. Robbie doesn’t.
Andy recovers physically, but not emotionally. Therapy doesn’t help. Venting to his girlfriend Keisha doesn’t help. Winning the season in Robbie’s name doesn’t help.
Andy is in a downward spiral.
One he’ll force himself out of.

GOL. LEE. There exists in my mind a genre of film, where you watch it, get to the end and think, “That was incredible! …I never want to see this again!” Joker, Hotel Rwanda, Selma. It’s a book, but I’ll add Tears of a Tiger to the list. This is masterfully done, a book carried almost entirely by dialogue but still cuts deep. This is a book about grief, depression, and moving on from tragedy—or rather, how some people can’t. I’m going to read this book at least one more time, because Sharon M. Draper is a Margaret A. Edwards Award winner, but Sharon M. Draper is 17 authors down the line and I can live with that because I’ll need all that time to recover. I gave Tears of a Tiger 5/5 ⭐️s across the board.

📖 İçimdeki Melodi – Sharon M. Draper
Sharon M. Draper’ın İçimdeki Müzik serisinin ikinci kitabı olan İçimdeki Melodi, Melody’nin büyümesine ve kendi gücünü keşfetmesine tanıklık ettiğimiz sıcacık bir devam kitabı oldu benim için.
İlk kitapta dünyaya biraz daha uzaktan bakan, içinde çok şey yaşayıp bunu dışarıya yansıtmakta zorlanan bir Melody vardı. Bu kitapta ise daha cesur, daha kararlı ve kendi sınırlarını zorlamaya hazır bir Melody görüyoruz. Onun gelişimini okumak gerçekten çok güzeldi.
Kitabın merkezinde Melody’nin katıldığı kamp var. Bu kamp onun için sadece yeni bir ortam değil aynı zamanda kendini keşfettiği, kendi ayakları üzerinde durabildiğini fark ettiği çok önemli bir deneyim oluyor. Orada geçirdiği zaman boyunca yalnız olmadığını, farklı olmasının hayallerine engel olmadığını ve pek çok şeyi başarabileceğini öğreniyor.
Kamp bölümleri kitabın en güzel kısımlarındandı. Ortam çok sıcak, çok umut doluydu. Melody burada gerçek dostlukları tanıyor, kendini daha özgür hissediyor ve ilk kez kalbini heyecanlandıran duygularla karşılaşıyor. Onun bu yeni duygularla tanışmasını okumak çok tatlıydı. Her küçük adımında insan onunla birlikte mutlu oluyor.
Serinin ilk kitabını sevenler için bu devam kitabı çok güzel bir yolculuk. Melody’nin kalpte ayrı bir yeri oluyor ve hikayesi bittikten sonra bile etkisi devam ediyor. Gönülden tavsiye ederim. 🤍📚
