Happy Mother’s Day! Video of the world’s last Asiatic lions in India—shot for @stevewinterphoto and my @natgeo story in the June issue and online. Video by Sharon Guynup
We are so excited! Our new book, Big Cats — 280 pages with 170 photos by @stevewinterphoto and narrative by @sharon.guynup — publishes on October 6, 2026.
It’s my big cat opus, including photos and stories that have had powerful impact, helping to save cats across the globe: jaguars, tigers, lions, leopards, cougars and snow leopards. Our book is the product of 25+ years working in remote landscapes from the steamy jungles of the Amazon, Thailand, Sumatra, and India to African savannas, the Pantanal wetlands, high Himalayan peaks and the U.S. West. This book will transport you to these places, bring you face-to-face with these magnificent cats, and show how photography and storytelling can change the world.
Big Cats is available for preorder now. Click the link in bio for more info. @natgeobooks
This is hope: this female is pregnant, and jaguars are having a good year in the Pantanal: with late rains and some cooler weather than the last El Nino years, fires are not raging as they have been.
Please join us Wednesday March 26, 12:00 pm, for a screening of “The Shark Fin Hunters”—and a discussion afterwards with the filmmakers at the Wilson Center.
This documentary follows Evelyn LaMadrid, an environmental prosecutor in northern Peru, who is fighting back against the illegal trade of shark fins. Her office granted Aljazeera’s Fault Lines reporters exclusive access to embed with her team as she investigated traffickers moving the product through the country.
Please RSVP in advance. Walk-ins will not be admitted. https://lnkd.in/gSRsqj2h

A healthy cheetah family, with four nearly-grown cubs in Masai Mara. So great to see since cheetahs are in rapid decline, with cubs snatched for the illegal Middle Eastern pet trade.
YOUR support matters. Please consider making a donation this Giving Tuesday -
Saving big cats means saving our planet – and saving ourselves. The world’s last wild places are vanishing at an alarming rate. As wide-ranging predators, big cats play a crucial role in keeping ecosystems in balance. Saving them protects huge tracts of land and every species that shares their realm. Producing stories, photographs and films about big cats has impact: Our work has helped create national parks, informed the public, influenced lawmakers and stopped wildlife trafficking.
Happy Giving Tuesday, everyone! This year, Big Cat Voices is producing a feature story and two short films on the last 700 Asiatic Lions. Help us tell their story and protect these magnificent animals with your contribution today! The Classy link is in our bio.
