In the US, 120 billion meals go to waste while 47 million people go hungry every year.
➗➕🟰That’s a broken equation– so we did the math…
If we rescue just SEVEN percent of that wasted food, we could close the entire U.S. meal gap. 📊
At Sharing Excess, we’ve already delivered 100 million+ meals with your help, we’re just getting started.
There is enough food to feed everyone, the problem is getting surplus food to people who need it.
Join us on our mission to close the meal gap đź’š

New York needs to step up in a serious way. Families across the state are food insecure and we need every tool to make sure they don’t go hungry.
The NYS Food Rescue Tax Credit (A9329/S8878) reduces food waste, supports farmers, and gets fresh food to communities that need it most. It was in the Assembly budget. The Governor’s office is pushing to remove it.
At the exact moment federal food programs are being cut, Albany is making moves to weaken the safety nets of our most vulnerable neighbors.
One night. One million meals.
We launched a concept that brought together some of Philadelphia's most passionate people at @kalayaphilly for an evening of incredible Thai cuisine by Chef Nok (@kuhnnok ), all in support of our mission to make sure that surplus food goes to the people who need it.
Together we raised over $100k. At $1 = 10+ meals, that's at least one million meals for families across the country.
Thank you to our lead sponsor @misfitsmarket , and to every table, donor, and guest who made this happen: Anderson Family Foundation, @bankofamerica , @unitedstatescoldstorage , @sheltonmercer , @firstrustbank , @tuttleman_foundation , @mandt_bank , Mark Nicoletti, Drew Brown, Laurie Franz, and @215marketing .
To Chef Nok and the entire Kalaya team, thank you for opening your doors and your kitchen for this mission. This is the kind of partnership that creates change on a meaningful scale.
See you next year. 🌿💚
Comment “POTATO” to help rescue 12 MILLION pounds of potatoes🥔
Every $1 donated helps deliver up to 50 meals to families in need.
Together with @sharingexcess we’ve already covered 150 of 300 truckloads needed.
We only have a few weeks left before these potatoes could go to waste. You can help us move the next 150 truckloads.
No one should go hungry while perfectly edible food goes to waste. You can make a direct impact for those in need by supporting this effort.
And shoutout @potatotyx for helping us with this massive rescue👊🔥❤️
Today, we had the honor of meeting King Charles III at @harlemgrown , one of our most beloved partners in NYC.
The King had a packed agenda on his visit to the US, but made quality time to visit Harlem to learn about urban farming, sustainable food systems, and fresh food distribution. Food waste and sustainability are issues that are close to His Majesty’s heart, and we were fortunate to discuss our mission and what expansion across the US (and eventually the UK) could look like.
We could not be prouder partners of @harlemgrown , who distributes over 300,000 pounds of fresh produce rescued through Sharing Excess every year to children and families. Together, we are changing the food system and proving that healthy food security is possible for everyone.

Happy #StopFoodWasteDay Let’s Free Food
21% of all freshwater in the U.S. is used to grow food that never gets eaten. 🍉
When food is wasted, water is wasted too. And neither should be. 💧🌱
