Data protection isn’t neutral in housing struggles. When tenant data is mishandled, the risks don’t fall evenly. They fall on people potentially already facing eviction, enforcement, harassment, or surveillance. That’s why together with @sharedassets / @digitalcommonscoop , we’ve created a practical GDPR guide for housing justice groups. It’s about keeping people safe while still organising effectively… not slowing things down or ticking boxes. What’s inside: - When GDPR actually applies (and when it doesn’t) - How to collect only what you need - How to avoid “purpose creep” - Simple ways to share data without creating new risks This is data protection as solidarity, not bureaucracy. Get the guide in the link in our bio! And spread in your networks!

What’s on at the Justice Strand? We are excited to share the programme for the @oxfordrealfarmingconference , co-hosted with @_salt_union and @landinournames . The Justice Strand was conceived and hosted by us and @landinournames in 2022, finding its roots in racial justice. The programme has since expanded, also collaborating with Seeding Reparations in 2024 and 2025. The current partners bring a broad intersection of topics to the programme, including: land access, reparations, abolition, health justice, racial justice, queer liberation, neurodiversity, alternative economies, migration, workers’ rights and anti-oppression.

We’re excited to share the launch of @landmatchengland , a new not-for-profit service designed to connect landowners with people seeking land for agroecological food and farming 🌱🧡! Access to land remains one of the biggest barriers for new entrants and many landowners are looking for trusted, reliable ways to share or steward their land with others. Landmatch England brings these two groups together through a clear, user-friendly registration process and supportive regional networks. Whether you’re a landseeker looking for a place to start or expand your business - or you have land that could be used for food growing, livestock, market gardening or mixed enterprises - you can now register to get involved. This launch marks an important step toward building fairer, more diverse and more resilient local food systems across England. Find out more and register at landmatchengland.org.uk and attend our launch event for an introduction to how it all works on January 21st (find in our bio 🔗)

Landmatch England is here! After months and months of hard work, big conversations, fundraising, planning and collaboration, our website is live and ready for sign ups. We also have a free webinar launching the service on January 21st. Sign up now at @landmatchengland - we hope to see lots of you there! Many thanks to @wildtororganics for allowing us to feature the story of how they found land through the @eco_land_coop so we can highlight the difficulties around land access to explain why our service is so needed.

Mark Walton, our wonderful founder and Executive Director, is bidding us “bella ciao!” at the end of September… 👋 🎶 After 14 years, his leaving blog reflects on Shared Assets’ journey from an idea conceived in a disused sandwich shop, to a small consultancy, to an infrastructure organisation for an emerging land movement. 🌱 It’s a huge legacy - and one we’re proud to carry forward with a new strategy + shared leadership team. Mark, thank you for your vision, leadership, and unending commitment to land justice🧡 Find the blog on the link in our bio 🔗
