Shap’s Baits

Let’s talk about jig head shape! Why does it matter? How does it help? How does it work? Do you want the long answer? When it comes to strolling, not all head shapes are equal. Some roll better than others and small, subtle differences matter in regard to bait action. If you have a head shape that aids in the classic “rolling” action that you want during midstrolling, you end up shaking your rod less violently and you’re able to apply a rolling action with subtle twitches. (See pic #1) If you don’t have a head shape that helps you, you end up shaking that rod harder, often times over working the bait and creating an unnecessary rocking action that may turn more passive, larger fish off. With Shap’s Baits Hoverslave Heads, we have more mass above the shank of the hook, that’s the main key. The hook shank is the rotational axis of the bait during midstrolling. If you have more mass below the shank of the hook, you end up with an ultra stable head. It’s great for throwing small swim baits, not so great for throwing a bait you want to midstroll. This is not to say that other heads won’t roll, they will. You will just have to work harder, much harder if it’s a long cast to deep water. Alright folks! Gonna flip the switch on the website and drop a bunch of these hoverslaves. I tried to focus on the more niche/hard to find head combos. If you can’t find what you want, or you get cart jacked, the custom order tab is still open. I know it’s a little pricier, but you can still get what you want. I’ll have 5 qty available for each custom order size. Lead time for the customs is anywhere from 1-3 weeks depending on how many custom orders I get. For the in-stock hoverslaves, I’ll be closing the drop at 10pm on Saturday. After that, the next drop won’t happen until at least April. If you know what happened on clear lake with the minnow last April, you know this is probably your best shot at getting the right equipment for it.
