Hello, my dear friends. I tried to handle this situation on my own until the very end, but I’ve run out of resources and time. I have no choice but to turn to you.
My Mom’s Story
My parents are still living under occupation. A year after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, my dad passed away unexpectedly, and my mom was left completely alone. The last year, she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. It causes loss of memory and mobility. Today, her condition has deteriorated sharply: she can no longer take care of herself, is rapidly losing her memory, and is losing the ability to move on her own.
Why can’t I just bring her easily ? • She cannot travel directly through Ukrainian territory, as she is located behind the front lines. It requires a long journey through Russia and Belarus, taking a detour to reach the humanitarian corridor. (See photo of the route 2) It takes 2–3 days to reach just the corridor.
• Deportation: Last year, I took the risk of flying through Moscow (it’s the only route, and only Sheremetyevo Airport) to get her out. I was held for 12 hours for questioning and deported with a ban on re-entry. Physically, I cannot get home. (See photo 3) Also the reason i was deleted my previous Instagram scared they could find something.
• Loss of property: I tried to draw up a power of attorney (which I did) to sell our real estate and pay for treatment and departure. But due to new laws imposed by the occupying authorities, my Ukrainian passport invalidates any legal actions. We have effectively lost the legal ability to dispose of our property.
What do we need the money for?
Due to the lack of systematic care and medication, my mother is fading away every day. The only chance to save her life is to transport her across several countries. This costs a big amount of money for me right now and a mental challenge i deal with the past 3 years.
