It’s the end of a very special era in our lives. Today marks the first day in five and a half years where our dear friends Annabelle and Marshal haven’t lived upstairs, just a shouted “you home up there?!” away. Marshal and I have been friends for over 16 years. We played in bands together, shared hotel beds, drove thousands of miles. When he moved to New Orleans for law school, Alta and I were devastated. But that’s where he met Annabelle, so it worked out. A few years and a couple of moves later, they ended up back in Brooklyn, in the apartment upstairs. There’s something about sharing a house with your best friends that you can’t replicate any other way. You don’t have to make plans. Someone’s always cooking. Someone’s always down to hang. The door is never really closed (as long as you text, “y’all hangin??” first). It’s the kind of closeness most people stop having after college, and we got to have it as adults, through some of the biggest years of our lives. We rode out the pandemic, changed careers, planned their wedding, discovered the ideal thermostat setting, and ordered more takeout than is possible to comprehend. Then Alta and I had Jody, and Marshal and Annabelle were there for every first. Jody has grown up thinking of them as family because they are. He’s never known a version of home without them in it. This morning he walked into their empty apartment and said, “well... this used to be Marshal and Annabelle’s room... and now... it’s nothing.” (Ok… a little dramatic…) It’s not nothing! No matter who’s up there, it will always be Marsh and Annabelle’s apartment to us. Annabelle and Marshal, we love you. We can’t wait to visit you in New Orleans. The door upstairs is always yours.

FRESHIES & WACKIES: We are going to …@tribeca !!!!! We are so jucking excited & honored to have THE YOUNG OLD DERF CHRONICLES as an official selection of this year’s Tribeca Festival! We will be previewing our first episode on June 11th at their Official Selections Live event (link in our bio!). Tickets will be available on 4/29. (And lil warning: the episode description will have some spoilers!) BUT THATS’s NOT ALL! We are planning to do some shows around the festival, including A LIVE NEW EPISODE SHOW on Sat June 7th, and a non-Zyxx improv show at @ucbtny on June 8th!
