Yesterday, we said goodbye to our brotha Nasty Nes - a legend in the music game, the first DJ to ever play rap on West Coast Radio, and to someone who championed young artists like myself and my brother.
Nestor “Nasty Nes” Rodriguez was someone who definitely impacted my music career. Not only did he believe in me, he did everything he could to support my music (along with many others). He helped my music get to the top of the college charts, organized a tour in the Bay Area, and helped connect me with the amazing Rap Attack DJs and various people to help move me career forward.
But more than anything he was an amazing and genuine person. He always had time for people and would talk to everyone, creating connections that would last for as long as you knew him.
Nes was also a big jokester, always making us laugh and never taking life too seriously. I share a fun story on the last slide that should give you an idea of how funny he was. He lit up the room with his presence and his laughter.
I will miss you so much, Nes. I love you, bro, and am happy to have known you. Thanks for believing in me. I promise I will be make a hit for you so I can shout your name out on the Grammy stage. And I’ll let you know when my SAG DVDs come in. You always get them before I do 😂
