Jeffersonville, VT Silo Mural Art (2016)

Although I only captured the North Silo, there are actually two at the former Bell-Gates Lumber Mill. The silos are the only remaining structures of the former lumber mill. This one depicts an elderly farmer which honors Vermont’s past. He is shown with draft horses, a church and a covered bridge, all of which had local models. The other, not pictured, is an 8 yr old boy representing Vermont’s future. Each silo is 36 feet tall and 5,000 square feet. These are considered the largest outdoor mural project in Vermont and were designed to revitalize this old, neglected site. Just another fun roadside attraction.

Big Rig Jig
Artist: Mike Ross
This 42 foot sculpture made from two repurposed 18 wheeler tanker trucks, was originally built for the 2007 Burning Man Festival. It was later featured in Banksy’s Dismaland and now sits in downtown Las Vegas next to the Ferguson Hotel.

BRV - A community of discovery
What a scene on Route 318! Almost got excited when I saw the gas prices! What?? Felt like I was entering the Twilight Zone.
Talk about a time warp! This will only make you feel worse about today’s gas prices and really make you yearn for the good ole days.
Traveling the backroads on Rt. 318 not too far from exit 41 off the NYS Thruway sits this offbeat recreation of a 1960’s Atlantic gas station complete with old gas pumps, a vintage tow truck and yes, even mannequin service attendants. The property has all sorts of nostalgic cars, vintage gas pumps, old Coke vending machines, all the appropriate things, scattered around. It all is part of Al’s Custom Autos. From what I understand, Al still customizes old cars at the place.
Backroads rule. Sometimes there’s just not enough time to spend on these ‘just happen upon’ quirky finds.

Sad chairs at The Sphere in Las Vegas. What a venue!! Whatever your music preference is, you cannot deny the art immersion experience that Phish offers. It’s extremely hard to capture the depth of it all with everything just bouncing around the room.

Look up ! Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper stand on top of the Finger Lakes Drive-In marquee in Cayuga, NY. It is NY state’s oldest continuously operating drive-in since its opening in 1947.

Glory Days.
Fuller Field - Certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest continuously used baseball diamond since its beginnings in 1878.
Although recognized as the oldest, there has been on ongoing debate with Labatt Park in London, Ontario which claims it is older but had to move locations. Fuller Field maintains its home plate has been in the same spot in Clinton, MA since 1878.
