Presenting: an evening with Tara Trafzer 🍷🍾
Tara will be hosting a Waipiro and Korero session again this year (most likely with a wine in hand!) and you'll be welcome to bring your own kai or inu while you relax and listen.
If you joined this session last year, you'll know this wahine is hugely knowledgeable about WCS so it's definitely a session you'll want to attend.
Waipiro and Korero with Tara is at 6pm on Saturday evening (during the dinner break).

Ōtautahi, Canterbury, and the South Island have some amazing things to see and do, if you're here before or after Shakedown!
Here's one of the Shakedown crew's top picks:
Mt Hutt skifield offers discounts for groups of more than 20 people - and luckily August is right in skiing season. Why not get a group together and make the most of it?
Check out our international visitors page for even more recommendations, and other important info - just head to our website (linked in our bio) and look for the 'International Visitors' page.
So excited we have a wharenoho RIGHT NEXT TO THE VENUE this year 🤩 Ka mutu pea!
If you want a convenient, affordable place to get about three hours of sleep, just visit www.hotelgive.nz and use ‘CODESWING’ for 10% off bookings between 20-25 August.
P.s. because we're right in the centre of the city, there's a heap of food options and other accommodation nearby, as well as being right across the road from Hagley Park! Couldn't ask for a more ataahua location!
Keen to enter our new routine division? Want to know a bit more about choreography? We have just the thing for you!
At 11am on Sat 25 April, Bameo (a.k.a Ben and Cameo McHenry) are joining us online to share their expertise and answer any questions you may have about choreography.
The Shakedown crew will also be available to answer questions about our new routine division.
You must have registered and paid for Shakedown to attend - but if you can't make it, just DM the Shakedown social media accounts and ask for the recording.
The link to the session will be posted closer to the time.
Bring your burning questions, and we'll see you there!
Join us for a very sophisticated tour of the new Shakedown venue, Black Box Theatre 🖤
There’s also on-site accomodation at Hotel Give 😱 Use ‘CODESWING’ for discounts on rooms booked for 20-25 August.
Newcomers - if you've been dancing for less than a year and have no WSDC points, we have a couple things on offer just for you!
A dedicated Newcomer Pass - just choose 'Newcomer Weekend Pass' when you're signing up on DanceConvention. All Shakedown passes include workshops, social dancing, and competition!

If you have any questions, chuck us a DM, leave a comment, or email us at [email protected] - we'd love to hear from you.
Are you joining us from overseas this year? We have some information just for you!
The most important thing to know is all overseas visitors - anyone who doesn't live in New Zealand - qualify for the international pass rate (this includes your WSDC Jack and Jill entry). Just choose the international pass in DanceConvention.
We reckon coming to Shakedown is also a good excuse to travel around our beautiful motu! We have heaps of information about Christchurch and the South Island on our website - link in bio, or type code03swing.com/shakedown into your internet browser.
