The Trencadis: Mar and Terra Series are now available at Shain Gallery in Charlotte NC. This series has been wonderful to work on. I’m in love with the colors. The series morphed out of my Unlocking Me series and I really tried to explore color. It also stemmed from my daughter studying abroad. I looked to the art of the places she might go and fell in love with the Trencadis technique which prevalent in Spain and Portugal.

#tbt to my first art show @shaingallery back in 2019. I was supposed to have joined them during their annual Emerging Artists Show but we tried my art early and it all sold out. So I came back for another show in the fall and they became my home. It was so exciting! My friends and family joined me and I felt so loved. Over the years I’ve continued to participate in many more exhibitions and send hundreds of paintings to the gallery yet have not been back in person for a show in quite a while. I’ve included a few pictures from those shows too. So tonight is just exciting. I am gearing up to join them tonight for my first in person solo show since before COVID. There is something about being with people and collectively appreciating the arts with others. I’m sure it will be a fun time! Looking forward to it! I hope you’ll join me! These were the final two paintings I created for my show. Over the last few months, I spent a lot of time in my little garden, watching the birds and flipping through old bird books. Somewhere in all of that, this idea of birds “fishing for joy” appeared.
The tiny sketched fishing lures became little symbols of hope and searching — some birds patiently waiting, others circling above for the perfect catch. It felt a lot like life lately.
“A Good Place To Wait” has found its home (thank you! ❣️), and “Fishing for Joy” is the last remaining piece from this pairing. If you’ve had your eye on it, now’s the time before it’s gone too. ❤️
