Being smack dab in the middle of a school of sardines was an amazing experience, interrupted only by the thought of being in the middle of a giant bait ball and what eats said bait #stayinschool #schooliscool #odoylerules #zissousociety #unpaidintern

In the lot of a long abandoned #pemex, positioned perfectly between “I think I’ll make it” and “fuck, I really need gas”, along the longest, gas stationless stretch of desert on the peninsula; a clever old man sits waiting in his #toyota for weary travelers. As my gauge began to dip into the last eighth of the tank, my mind began to get more and more desperate. At last my savior appeared just ahead. With 2 barrels; one unleaded, one diesel, and a single hand pump that he swapped between the two, I bought ten gallons thinking that should get me through to a station. The old man looked as if he’d been there in the middle of nowhere all day so I offered him an ice cold juice and water from my cooler. He was hella stoked. As he’d walk back between his truck and mine for more fuel he’d run his hand down the bed of my #tacoma with a smirk, look out to me, and compliment the truck. All fueled up, he pulls out his calculator and gives me a total twice as high as the cost from the station. In no position to argue I forked over the cash and was back on the road. Continuing my journey south, it wasn’t more than 24km before the next Pemex. Like I said; a clever old man
