The dining nook ✨
Found this dining table and 4 x chairs on Marketplace and I absolutely love them!
Getting rid of the massive, bulky table and benches we had before has really opened up the space, and this new set has created a much cosier, intimate setting to have dinner.
The tightly-spaced gallery wall and lighting gives that slightly French-bistro feel and the rug, also a Marketplace find, ties all the rich colours in our scheme together.
This space has gone from being my least favourite in the house to my go-to spot as soon as I wake up to enjoy my morning coffee. ☺️

Better late than never! Apologies for how long it’s taken to get this post out, I’ve been adventuring in my campervan and haven’t had much signal.

Through to week 5 by the skin of my teeth!! 😬
This was a challenging brief & I completely agree with the comments from Michelle and @damekellyholmes . Although not my strongest work, I wanted to create a space that was centred around socialising - giving the sailors a space to hang out, have fun, eat and chill out - which I think I delivered.
My furniture choices were robust and easy to keep clean - perfect for 24 young trainees who are in and out with muddy boots!
The Uckers board game concept directed my aesthetic design, in hindsight I should have ran with that more.
Unfortunately a lot of things didn’t get done this week- the blind never went up, the tv never made it to wall, the artwork and pin board didn’t go up - all because we ran out of time. An oversight on my part and my first big lesson in time management.
Absolutely gutted to see @jonniknightdesign leave this week, he created a beautiful design - not just this week either - and was a genuine joy to be around.
Really grateful to @michelleogundehin for the feedback and for giving me a chance to learn from it next week.

I was given the honour of choosing who I worked with this week and for me, Duran was a no brainer.
I knew this brief was going to be challenging for me as it required an aesthetic that is totally alien to me. So I called on Duran as her impeccable understanding of colour theory and naturally uplifting design style was going to give us an advantage when interpreting this brief.
My week working with this powerhouse taught me a lot - Duran is not afraid to ask for what she wants! 🤣 I think Duran gave me more confidence that I really lacked when project managing - thank you @duran_deedee ❤️

I’ve had so many lovely new followers over the last few weeks I wanted to properly introduce myself! 👋🏼
I’m Sophie, a Staffordshire-based interior designer with a background in specialist paint work. 🎨
I launched Shag Interior in January 2024 after designing my own home and developing my signature ‘rock & roll maximalist’ style. 🐆
I began my journey into interior design as a specialist painter, covering all types of creative projects from animal prints to murals, but my most requested work was limewash or limewash effect.
I then took on my first 2 design projects - both of these were living rooms, one had a maximalist jungle brief and the other was a ‘cosy but tough’ take on a more masculine design.
I applied to be on Interior Design Masters because I wanted to really push my creativity and put myself into a competitive environment to strengthen me as both a designer and a business owner.
I’m obsessed with animal prints.
I love to clash prints, colours and textures.
I am currently working with commercial clients and will soon be opening space for one more (local-ish) design client… Watch this space! ✨
