Growing up with family on the island myself, I’ve always had a deep respect for the strength of community. Woven into my upbringing because of similarity to Filipino community culture, for me the islands beam a sense of home and family. This project was an easy one for me to offer everything I possibly could pour into it to contribute.
I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to work with like-minded, supportive, and generous folks like Dan Gerhard , Cody Wilkins, and Kona Bikes.

Sea Otter marks one year since the most unhinged two weeks of my life. Lolol. It’s hard to put into words what @calebsmithphoto and I went through… all while being away from home, literally chased down by journalists, and bearing the responsibility of carrying home what was physically left of our beloved career. Our long drive home felt like we were some sort of last Spartans refusing to give up, despite repeated corporate shanking.
Today, I’m able to be immensely thankful. For the trauma bond that formed between @calebsmithphoto and I, and led to the makings of a team and friendship that can kick some serious ass. For Dan and Jake and the rest of my @konabikes family for not fucking giving up!! For my dear friends who loved us and helped us smile along the way. And for the appreciation I have everyday that drives me to do my best and push this sport we love so much.
When @shreddie_reynolds ‘s dad took this photo, we thought it could be the last photo of our happy little team. Thank the universe (the lord, the gods, or whatever) for making sure it wasn’t. 🙏
Happy Sea Otter everyone. I’m not there, but I’m glad my bike launch went as planned this year. lol Maybe see you next year… maybe the year after that actually. lol.
Quality 1:1 time with @satchscratch during a snow storm in Squamish last year. The weather gifted us a couple days of creative workshopping as we experimented with snow and making bikes creepy.
I would have only lasted 20 minutes without the @7meshinc goretex kit. 🙌🏼
