THE STATE OF THE FESTIVAL
Join us as we discuss the film festival system and prognosticate about where it might be going.
We are partnering with Slamdance’s MADE IN LA program to bring you 3 shorts to be exhibited along with our panel discussion.
THE PROGRAM:
APT MGR (2025) — Directed by Ian MacInnes
Apt Mgr is the account of the filmmaker’s experience living next to Bob, his 85-year-old landlord and neighbor, when Bob professes his love for and begins to stalk the filmmaker. The film delves into the complex relationship between Documentarian and Subject in the filmmaker’s attempt to cope with the fear of being hunted, being watched, and of being the object of obsession.
Bita Joon (2025) — Written & Directed by Sara Boutorabi
On a seemingly prosaic day in the life of Bita, an Iranian woman with terminal cancer comes to grips with her changing relationships with her family as life transforms, evolves and slips away.
Audio Description (2025) — Written & Directed by Luke J. Salewski / Produced by Lee Pugsley
After making a wish on his birthday, a lonely visually impaired man finds his world turned upside down by an unexpected encounter.
A reminder that Slamdance is once again here in LA! Feb 19-25.
Festival passes are only $50.
