It all began with a news article that enraged
@shaanvs ; that anger led Shaan to create the story that is now known as NATKHAT. The exceptional tale got the support of two super-powerhouses:
@balanvidya &
@ronnie.screwvala , and the eventual brilliant team that came together through
@sanayairanizohrabi 's relentless hustle led to a short film that has received the kind of love usually reserved for feature films.
The scale of our short remains unparalleled in terms of making and reach (it continues to travel, to be watched, & has even entered the syllabi of several educational institutes), and I believe that the credit for this rests on the unadulterated intentions and vision that Shaan Vyas had while making the film- something that led to supremely talented creators and a loving audience gravitate towards it.
During the bizarre year that 2020 was, 'Natkhat' found a global release through
@smritikiran 's curation and staunch & loud cheerleading, and
@kalpananoir 's unfettered support, on the prestigious
@weareonegff platform. And soon enough, the film that was born because of a disturbing news article found itself mentioned & praised in countless news publications.
Shaan and I still marvel at the journey our film has taken with immense gratitude and Awe. All we had imagined was creating a film that would lead to crucial conversations. That it led to so much recognition, awards, critical acclaim, an Oscar qualification, and a permanent home on an OTT platform-
@officialjiocinema - that allows our film a chance to get viewed daily, is only the result of too many beautiful people and beautiful intentions coming together.
To each and everyone who made this journey possible, we thank you from the deepest parts of our heart. Like Shaan always says, we pray for a day our film becomes "irrelevant". Until then, we hope it continues to spark the fire of change...❤️❤️
