Finally tried my hand at hanging some wallpaper (with the help of Jeff—it was def a two-person job!). I was nervous all would go wrong, but you know what? It actually worked! Nothing broke! Not even my spirit!
I’ve been loving up this tiny cabin for as long as I can remember—a quiet place synonymous with summer (but truly great in every season)… different air, different vibe, lots of bugs. The best. Shout out to @kemychan for encouraging this design experiment (it only took me four years to make it happen?) and for always making this beautiful place so accessible to us 💛

My kitchen recently got an accidental overhaul 😬. My original plan was to just rip down the hung ceiling situation, rewire to add some more lighting and then zip it back up with some dry wall. Oh, and add a cabinet over the fridge, which had been shoved into a closet by the previous owner. But! When I saw the 100-year-old rafters we decided they needed to stay. But! The more we tinkered in there, the more other things started to unravel and well fast forward 6 weeks, 1000 lbs of dust and some unnervingly quick decision-making (+saintly contractor, Mayron Castro) and the whole space got a nice cosmetic love-up. I kept the cabinets, added butcher block countertops/subway tile/sink + faucet. Will prob do something to the floors someday… like idk accidentally rip them out and wind up with an entire gut reno? But for now I’m just happy to not have that gross ceiling and some lights so I can see what I’m doing when I’m washing the dishes. And since I’m a sucker for a before and after, there are some pics at the end of the problems I was trying to fix, plus what the kitchen looked like the day we first looked at the house.
