Lambda Legal recently won a critical preliminary injunction in SFAF v. Trump, our case fighting the Trump administration’s executive orders that threaten to defund vital health and support services for LGBTQ+ people. The win ensured our nine plaintiff organizations could continue operating, advocating, and serving LGBTQ+ people and everyone living with HIV without threats to their funding. Today, we confirmed that more than $6.2 million in grant funding to these organizations has been restored! 💪 The legal win and funding restoration protect our plaintiffs from having to shutter programs or silence their advocacy for fear of losing critical federal support while the case proceeds. “When we fight, we win. We know the battle is far from over and there will be setbacks along the way, but the cause is too important, and the need too great, for us to lose heart.” – Jose Abrigo, Lambda Legal Senior Attorney and HIV Project Director Learn more at our link in bio. ⬆️

City Hall is usually a quiet place- politicians rushing between offices, weddings, Quinceañera photos. Yesterday that calm was pierced by protesters delivering 1,500 postcards to Mayor Lurie demanding he stop the proposed budget cuts. The HIV Advocacy Network teamed up with the People’s Budget Coalition, and SFAF was there because we had to be. The coalition is right: there are revenue solutions on the table, but instead we’re being asked to choose between programs, between people, between lives.

The End the Epidemics coalition released a bold and comprehensive budget request for the California Legislature, which would bring an additional $143 million to HIV, STI, PrEP, and hepatitis C programs across the state.    ETE is a statewide coalition that advocates for funding to eliminate health inequities and end the HIV, STI, viral hepatitis, and overdose syndemic in California.
