This is what success looks like
I graduated from SFU with a music degree—with distinction. But to me, this degree represents so much more than four intense years of school. It’s a symbol of hard work, resilience, and self-belief—both mine and that of the incredible people around me.
This journey has shaped me into who I am today, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I’ve seen myself break through barriers when SFU tried to keep me boxed in. I’ve grown not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. I’ve washed dishes, scrubbed toilets, and endured insults from entitled ugly customers—all to make my education possible and put food on my plate while doing so.
This isn’t just a degree. What I hold in my hands is the product of dedication, blood, and sweat.
I couldn’t have done this without my amazing parents, who have always believed in me and supported me through everything. To the professors at SFU who mentored me and guided my musical journey—thank you. To my incredible partner who stood by me through it all, and to my friends in Canada and around the world who offer perspective as we navigate this wild thing called life—I’m deeply grateful.
