Sew Inclusive is for beginners too! From professional sewers to folks who’ve NEVER touched a machine, we are writing the book on fat positive, plus size fashion together. You just don’t know what it feels like to be in a space JUST FOR FAT FOLKS, until you do it. When Sally and I started the sewing workshops we knew we needed a lot of space to spread out and get creative (that’s why @made_institute is perfect). But what we didn’t know is what would happen when we all got together. Turns out when you get a bunch of folks together who share similar experiences, the energy is transformative. 💡 The room buzzes as we share tips, swap fabrics, and celebrate each other’s creations. There’s an overwhelming sense of belonging and empowerment that comes from knowing every pattern, every piece of advice, every encouragement is tailored for us, by us. We’re not just making clothes; we’re building confidence, forming friendships, and reclaiming our bodies in a society that often overlooks us. It’s a magical blend of creativity, support, and joy, where everyone is celebrated for who they are and what they bring to the table. Join us June 4th 6pm LINK IN BIO. Wow, what a magical few days it’s been at @made_institute @madewestworkshop . Itohan and I were so impressed by the work folks got done and the conversations we got to have. It’s wonderful to feel the community we’ve built together revived, and to make some new friends along the way. Happy Scorpio season!! 😈 We’ve been thinking about you on our adventures. So busy with exciting projects! Here’s update number two: Sally Louise @fussylouisejewelry has been traveling and exploring ways to expand their impact as a fat fashion designer and educator. She recently moved to Pittsburgh to be closer to the Midwest and South, settling into to the road trip lifestyle she prefers. Visiting Philadelphia often, Sally Louise still feels very connected to the Sew Inclusive community and is excited to expand our fat utopia ✨💚 They also recently joined the artist community at @prototypepgh and will be showing their first fashion line EVER at the queer fashion show @rhinestone_steel_pgh Sally Louise also adopted a cat (Mama Cass) who she loves very very much. Hey @sewinclusive friends!! Miss us? We miss you too but don’t worry, we haven’t gone away! BIG FAT UPDATES! We’ve been doing all sorts of exciting work and we want to share it with you! Robyn AKA @bluebangsshop has been working with individual designers and entrepreneurs to build their fashion careers through @robynportfoliocoach . After her amazing time at @made_institute she’s continuing to support aspiring designers to get into top fashion colleges, find employment after school and get the promotions/roles they deserve. The fashion industry still has a lot of inclusivity work to do and Robyn is tackling it from all angles! Next week Robyn will be speaking alongside a panel of other Plus Size Fashion advocates at @phillyfatcon !!!! A convention celebrating fat bodies, providing incredible resources and supporting many local creatives. She’ll be joined by Nicole of @lobomauclothing , @spokesandstitches and @phoriafits so stop by to say HEY!
