It shows that good old fashioned vacuum sealing in glass jars provided the best results after 16 weeks, compared to nitrogen canning or other methods.
Our friends at Farm Cut, a sustainable co-op of farms in NorCal takes advantage of this by using The Bio Lid which we developed, and recycled glass jars to package their flower off-grid on-site. The Bio Lid enables the flat canning lid you know from mason jars to fit underneath allowing vacuum sealing the contents. It’s also entirely compostable and Farm Cut has replaced nearly two tons of plastic packaging since adopting it.

It’s been a long journey developing a fully compostable alternative for child resistant Mylar bags. We were able to do the outer layer, ink and glues, but not the CR zipper. After quite a bit of R&D, we’ve figured the zipper formulation and “foil” lining out.
