MS45.1 ECU runs wideband primary oxygen sensors rather than the narrowband sensors used by the original MS45.0 ECU. This allows the ECU to apply fuel trims at full load, ensuring AFR is metered to a precise degree, which is massively important for engine reliability and performance. Unfortunately, ECUs using narrowband sensors (such as MS43 and MS45.0) must guess the AFR at full load rather than measure it. This can lead to huge inconsistencies in targeted AFR versus actual AFR, detonation, or reduced performance. 365 whp with a shop temperature of 109 deg! Mods include 288/280 cams, Eventuri intake, catless exhaust, E40 fuel. This track focused Z4MC will be mega reliable in the most extreme environments. In addition to the huge increase in horsepower, we optimized throttle response to provide more progressive modulation for smoother on/off transitions, and we increased responsiveness at moderate pedal angles to assist with heel-toe downshifting. 350 whp, internally stock S54, MAF tune! This track car has a dry sump setup, Eventuri, carbon intake modified to support a MAF, and SS V1 stepped headers with a matching custom exhaust. Using our FlashApp and Remote Flash software, we optimized the ECU tune to tie the hardware together for a staggering 350 whp and 267 wtq! We are now able to flash the MSS70 ECU in 1-2 minutes with FlashApp and Severn Remote Flash. A high-quality laptop and upgraded cable can flash the ECU in around 50 seconds. The improved flash times allow us to dive into the VANOS tuning using a method built on trend analysis. This technique has proven extremely successful, albeit tedious since it requires 30-40 dyno runs from baseline to final confirmation. Layering 20+ runs on top of each other to find a small power difference from each iteration requires consistent data and the ability to flash the ECU quickly. At the end of the day, an iterative 1-2 hp gain repeated many times will lead to huge improvements. Swipe for dyno! We’ve included the iterative dyno runs with the intake VANOS in various positions, showing how the engine clearly performs better with certain intake VANOS settings in the midrange, but significantly different values at high rpm. The same applies to the exhaust VANOS. This is a perfect example of how improved flash times go beyond convenience. Flash time can influence tuning methods, which in turn impacts cost and results. Shortened flash times also cause less wear and tear, since the fuel pump isn’t running at full bore for the better part of an hour while the battery supports a 50+ amp current draw. +16 peak whp over the previous aftermarket tune! This beautiful GCC-spec Z4MC features a carbon intake, Turner power pulleys, and a 4.10 final drive. The existing aftermarket tune was very aggressive, forcing the ECU to command too much ignition timing with elevated knock thresholds. We refined the ECU’s sensor scaling, dialed back timing advance to safe levels, and perfected fueling on the @dynojetresearch dyno. The end result was a strong 327 whp, with smoother and more consistent power. We’ve been busy! Back in September, we spent a couple of days @europeanautosource dialing in our racecar’s new G530 supercharger setup from ESS Tuning. We managed 488 whp with just under 7 psi of boost on the original 85mm ESS pulley, FIC 650cc injectors, E85 ⛽, water/methanol injection, large diameter Supersprint headers, and a custom exhaust system. Swipe for dyno! Shop temperature during testing was 105 deg F, and this setup was rock solid. Once we receive positive results from track testing, we will push boost pressure further for even more power. We tuned both full- and part-throttle power using this @dynojetresearch eddy current load control feature, which is an advanced testing capability not found with inertia-only dynamometers. Beyond the impressive peak horsepower numbers, the precision of our tune is evident by the smoothness of the power curve. Through extensive testing, we have gained comprehensive knowledge of the (BMW Z4M) MSS70 ECU’s behavior in all conditions. This includes optimized tuning for every engine state, which could only be accomplished with high-end equipment, a controlled environment, and meticulous measurement of minute changes. Our finished products are put to task in the harshest racing conditions in the California desert, Dubai summers, Canadian winters, extreme climate variances of South Africa, and in Z4Ms putting down twice the horsepower of factory-spec cars. This Aston Martin V8 Vantage carving up @officialtailofthedragon now has our custom ECU tune! Part- and full-throttle power are greatly improved, as is mid-range torque. Typical power gain with our tune is approximately 25 whp. As with our other ECU tunes, every calibration is developed by a licensed professional engineer. Introducing the first G-Power supercharged Z4M on E85 ⛽️ Advertised to make 475 bhp, we managed to put down 536 whp (over 620 bhp!) with a high flow fuel pump, FIC injectors, Euro headers, and a Severn tune. The E85 fuel cools the combustion charge, and its high octane rating allows ignition timing to be advanced for maximum torque without detonation. We made so much torque that we exceeded the original clutch’s capacity, and we’re looking forward to squeezing even more power out of this setup with a high capacity clutch soon!
